Just wanted to share some details and pics on a canopy I built over the last month on the weekends.

The frame is 2x2 with the base being 1x4.IMG_3297.jpg IMG_3298.jpg

Then I sheeted it in 5mm underlayment. Then coated that in poor man’s fiberglass (canvas cloth and titebond 3 wood glue)

Painted it with black wood sealer.

Then built the door. The door is my least favorite part of the build but it works. It’s a sandwich of 7/16 osb and 1 inch foam board, also covered in PMF. Still needs painting. I used a cheap piano hinge so water drips through it when the door is open. Also the compression latches I used didn’t stick in far enough so I had to notch the frame. But so far everything is water tight and working well. The roof rails are just unistrut/superstrut.

I chose to do no windows for simplicity and because I had a deadline for a trip. Might do some windows in the future or at least a fan/vent to get some airflow when it’s closed. Planning to finish the interior with foamboard and FRP shower panels. I’ll probably update when I get around to that.
