Anyone with a "ribbed" center console done this? And has it worked?

I'm planning to do this mod.

Any update on the durability of the vinyl from the OP or others who've tried it?
Has it come loose on anyone?

ive had peeling issues and minor bubbles with exposed edges on surfaces that get too hot. you can glue it back down for the most part, but the adhesive that comes on the back of it is definitely not strong enough on its own.

for the most part its been minor issues but don't wrap your column handles imo, those don't take to being wrapped well at all.

    Thanks, TK.
Was planning to do the center cupholder area, the door switch plates and maybe the overhead console. Did you use the adhesion promotor when you applied yours?

no, I read it may make things more difficult to position so I didn't. you can give it a try tho. definitely buy a heat gun, a hair dryer wont cut it.

the side bumps on the switch plates are problem areas, good luck with those. the overhead console wasn't too bad, just time consuming cause its so big. I didn't do the center console, I like it as is.

if you haven't read about it you may want to search hydrodipping on here, you may like that better.

    Take your time.
Use a heat gun or hair dryer.
    Cut and fold.
    Don't buy the cheap stuff.
If you don't like the way it looks do it again.

I've had mine done now for close to 2 years And it still looks great!

So i did my vent peices and the trim around the gauges today. The vent peices were a pain in the a$$. But it got easier and cleaner wgen i did the second side. All and all im happy. And it was a lot of fun to do.

Never saw this thread before. Cool stuff. I did this to my 2003 530i. Had the dark wood grain interior trim with grey leather. I went with the grey 3M carbon fiber wrap. It came out really nice. I hadn't really considered doing it in the Tacoma but after seeing this thread, maybe.
