Thanks! I'll hold off on replacing it for now.

This is a great thread, thank you all for the invaluable information. I do have a couple questions please.

    1. My build date is actually 10/16, and while my vin lookup doesn't show I"m in the recall, does that mean I should still swap out my ckp sensor? I do have some minor misfire behavior.
    2. I was looking up the part number per post # 120 from @speedtre (thank you for your info) "0972 06U20" but Google yields no results. How is this ordered online? Links would be appreciated.

Update: I just re-read the post a few more times and saw he ordered part number 90919-05098, so just to be clear, this will get me the one with the Equal sign (latest revision)? I found a toyota parts department in Hurst TX that has them on ebay.

I just want to be sure before I place the order. Much appreciated.

Yep, it's been established that 90919-05098 is the latest and greatest part #. When you receive it make sure the part # on the box is correct. It wouldn't be that hard for a parts person to mistakenly fill the order with old new stock that was the original part still lying around the parts shelf.

Before everyone goes out replacing these, has anyone confirmed the oem/installed CKP is defective from toyota by running it through a o-scope or a dmm? Id be curious to know at the basics, what sort of numbers are being read by the bad vs good one.

They are under recall, I believe others change them as a form of preventative maintenance and have an extra as a spare.

Gotcha.. has me confused if the "recall" is actually inclusive enough like the leaking diff recall out right now.

It's not. No way.... I think there may be different degrees of severity though. The recall was for stalling - mine never stalled in 10k miles but was progressively running rougher, idling rough, MPGs suffered, etc., which was addressed when I replaced the CKP

Mine never stalled nor really ran rough in any way that I could pinpoint, but surged a few times at low rpm, and mpg had seemed to deteriorate slightly over time (35k miles). It's now been about 1500 miles since mine was replaced, and mpg seems to have picked up from 21.5 to 22.5 over those 1500 miles, which have been mostly highway, but included two trips from sea level to 8500-10000 ft and about 50 miles of four wheeling including use of 4 low. Pretty much all miles with A/C on and about half with a hitch bike rack with two bikes. Coming home from my last trip, I got stuck in traffic going about 50-55 mph, dead level road, 95 degrees outside and A/C on. Could run for several minutes at a time around 1400 rpm in D, I assume that's 6th, getting a steady 30 mpg in the Eco app. Can't beat that!

I just wanted to report in on my experience here. I ordered the part number listed in this thread, and received it. It did indeed have the equal sign (=) stamped on the sensor so it is the latest.

Today I replaced it, and boy what a difference that made! I was shocked at how much smoother my idle was. What I mean is before, my interior had a faint shake at idle and you can feel the light rumble of the motor running. Steady, but vibrating. As of today, i honestly do NOT feel it running at all, and my interior panels are steady! I also did not feel any more of the misfire when it would be under load, but that is also due to my OVtune I've had reflashed on my ECU.

My previous sensor was the circular hash mark. I'm very happy with the results.

And not on the recall list either are ya? Similar experience as you know on my end... I'd at least let your dealer know about it (not that I think it does a ton of good, they just ignored me when I told them the CKP replacement made a huge difference in my truck). I also logged it in my Toyota Owners account with the mileage at which I replaced so there is at least some official record. Still feel like the mess that sensor caused likely reduced life of the cat converters that won't surface until down the line. I just hope if its gonna happen it does so before 80k when emissions warranty expires.

Also - curious where your idle sits now. After warmed up, A/C off mine used to hover around 1100 at idle and was rough. Post CKP replacement, idles consistently at 550

Same for me, 550 rpm and butter smooth. And correct, I am not on the recall. I hate dealerships, I only go there to either trade/buy or complimentary service. Other than that, they can kiss my ass. They all suck, it's just a range of how badly they suck in all honesty.

I'm likely not keeping the truck long enough to worry about cat converter condition, and I have faith that Toyota's can stand the test of time. This is more for my own driving experience really.

Hey guys. I’ve got a 2017 SR5. Just went to drive it. Stumbling and no power. Having towed to dealer. I believe date is 11/16?
