Anyone build their own upper or lower control arms?

I'm planning on something, maybe a +2"... have built arms in the past, mostly for power-sports.

I want to do the same and go forward maybe an 1 1/2. I saw that jdfab sells the offset control pockets to move the control arms forward. My question at what point do you end up with too much positive caster,or could you offset the upper slightly to offset it?

I have not gone that far yet, but a good guess would be to start with moving the lowers forward 1.5". That will get the arms and available caster adjustment in a nice neutral area.

Another thought ,how wide can you go before longer axles are required?

    Yup.

J-arm UCAs with tubular LCAs for a long travel setup, and OEM width tubular LCAs.

I don't recommend it, unless your actual hobby is fabrication.

There's a tremendous amount of geometry that goes into making the front suspension work, and unless you're just copying an OEM part you'll potentially change all of it. If you do want to change shit plan to cut the shock tower/UCA mounts off and start from scratch.

Start by researching "Instant Center", "Bump Steer", "King Pin Angle", "scrub radius", and "Roll Center" as it relates to double wishbone suspension.

Get a copy of this, and start designing.

If you've done double triangulated 4 link IFS is just another way of tackling the same problems.
