How did you know where to cut the dash panel to make sure it lined up perfectly with the duct?

I can't speak for the others, but I eyeballed it based on pictures on this thread and where I could see where the hole in the ducting would line up. I started with a small hole somewhere in the middle, and slowly trimmed it to the right size by constantly measuring how far I had to go to the edges of the duct hole. The panel sits pretty flush against the duct, so it's easy to tell how much further you have to go with it.

    Thank you.

And that's using the 4runner duct?

I actually put a light inside the vent tube before mounting it up and drilled a hole after feeling where the vent should be and then cut it out from there. A sharp razor cuts the plastic pretty easy. Started small and shaved it down until it fit without using excessive force.

About half way through I realized I probably should have put masking tape on the kick panel before starting the cuts to avoid some accidental scratches

Yup! Although you could probably just cut a hole in the stock duct and use that to measure where to cut the knee panel.

Driving my daughter’s 3rd gen 4Runner a year or so ago, I commented on wanting that vent. Glad to see that it’s possible. A mod I will be doing very soon.

Ball chiller complete, this is such a good little mod that has already made a big difference. It makes you way cooler having that extra airflow there. With the summer heat coming up you gotta protect the boys. You can’t buy the vent tube new anymore but I got one on ebay from a 4Runner.

I feel like the crutch vent is sufficient. Chills an area with high blood flow so it helps with the feet

That and the 4runner sunglass holder are things I forget didn't come standard. We'll worth the few bucks in parts and little time it takes

Can’t forget the 4Runner HVAC plate that doesn’t have the Tacoma orange film. Love these interchangeable mods.

Sienna steering wheel with controls, ES300 wiper stalk with fog light controls…the pursuit for the perfect first gen.
