He's trying to achieve the look that comes with the XSP-X

    Should look similar to this

Are you able to do this with 05-11? Haven't ever seen pictures before.

I don't see why not. The 05-11 trucks still have the moulding piece. Its a slightly different shape so the LED's might have to be arranged differently.

You can even buy new pieces off ebay if you wanted to experiment before doing the painted ones on your truck.

I would tap into the day time running lights for power and then ground to anywhere you like

Will tapping into the day time running lights affect it when you use your blinker?

I don't believe so. I have my "raptor lookalike lights" tapped into them. That way on the light controls near the stearing wheel they're off at the first position, on at the second and on at the third along with my head lights. I'll go take a picture of what wire i tapped into.

I tapped into the parking lights not dtrl. Green wire that runs to the outermost top bulb. Then they would work just like I said with the head light controls

If anyone is still waiting on this I'd say dont do it. I didnt want to wait so i went ahead and tried it myself. The thread of the LED lights are too long and hit the housing of the headlight with no way of the trim piece being able to slide back into place. I did how ever trim the thread, ruining 3 or 4 the light LEDs (pulled the wire off) thankfully i ordered a 20 pack.

I know I'm late to the thread, but yeah the eagle eye style bolt LEDs are too long. The headlight is actually much bigger than you think and the cover is right on top of the bottom part of the light. No room for anything that isn't flush mounted with just the cabling running behind. That's why the stock units have the LEDs sticking out the cover.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the OEM design. Looks like bugs, dirt and water will accumulate in the LED cups. I would hate to clean it.
I'm still trying to find an inset LED assembly that will fit in a channel I will cut into the cover. Haven't found one yet, but I'm patient
