Interrupt the (+) tail circuit to the tag lamps, DO NOT mess with the ground on connector BE2, it's a shared ground from the BSMS.

I think he has the right break (on power rather than ground) with his based on looking at his photos vs mine. The white wire is most visible and represents ground whereas blue is used for power.

I just think the other two are switched. Tough to tell from the photos. Removing the tape and taking a closeup similar to mine should spell it out.

Symptom-wise, if the pre-collision error message happens only when in reverse then it points to a problem with breaking the shared ground (which I don't see from the photos) whereas if the pre-collision error messages happen when not in reverse then it points to a crossed pair of jumpers (which I think I see in the photo).

Pre collision alarm happens even when not in reverse.

Harness was working fin on previous truck so it has to be in the two wires for the bsm. Most likely crossed .

Lol.. I knew I should have gotten some sleep that night...

Seen the crossed wires once the tape came off. Going to redo that connector and try again

The female side is a little easier to depin. If you aren’t married to the opposite color pattern. Male isn’t much harder but with the longer pins it’s a tiny bit more work.

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
So basically you need a normally closed relay that will constantly send power to the LP lights until reverse lights come on and energize the relay to open it. Is that correct?

    Exactly.

Since I had spare parts... ended up being easier to cut the old me plug off and replace.

Looks like Ballinger (sp?) does not have all the connectors available. I checked out Corsa-Technic and they had the one Ballinger didn't but then didn't have one of the other connectors. I sent Corsa an email to see if they have the missing one and it seems they did. Prices was a little less as compared to Ballinger as well. I placed an order for the connectors and will let you guys know. I have ordered from Corsa before and they have been GTG.

Yep, Sarah at Corsa added at my request. I’ll update the first post, thanks for the reminder. Helps cut down shipping costs.

Updated the first post, as stated above, my advice is to buy as much as you can from corsa-technic as they are very small batch friendly, good prices, fair shipping, prompt and reliable.
The relays I am still sourcing from mouser but for just one item it may be more cost effective if you can find them elsewhere.
The relay seals and tpa's are the biggest problem for small batch.

If there is enough desire, I could potentially put together DIY kits for $60 or so.

@tkimbar2611 you have 2nd Gen w backup camera and you want to get this going? We need to locate a license plate intercept I believe? I have a 6 position connector which I think includes the signal to your reverse bulb. We also need a relay mounting location and lengths for each arm.

I have a 2nd gen with an OEM backup camera. Not sure what a license plate intercept is, but I can take a look around for a spot for the relay mount location. I'm pretty sure there is a decent spot behind the taillight that should work.

Sweet. Photos of the taillight cavity and confirmation of mounting location is one big part. We know the connector for that part well. Then tracing back the wires from the license plate bulb to the closest upstream connector. Last is estimates of each arm’s length. From there @Puppypunter or I can build a prototype.

First pic is straight into the tail light hole. Two “free holes” could work to mount the relay. One where the two clear wires are going through and one to the right. Third photo is looking down to the ground. Fourth photo is looking up to the rear. The bottom clip is the license plate light and then it’s maybe six inches to the next harness. I have the trailer outlet too so everything seems pretty convenient and easy to tie into right there(hopefully).
Let me know if you need any other photos.

I'm thinking that middle stud, looks like the same as 3rd gen to me? And the license intercept looks the same too, can you confirm it's a match by unplugging it and observing? The one with two green wires and two white w black wires. I'm assuming the one with red and brown is the tow harness?

Would you like me to just send you a 3rd gen DIR with the connector for 2nd gen off that 6? If possible could you probe to confirm which wire is the reverse? I assume white/black is ground there. I suppose you might need a helper (please be safe with that part) to set reverse and hold the brake, or maybe some cinder blocks and a healthy parking brake? Please do stay safe on that, though.

I'm not 100% on that license plate intercept but it sure does look the same.

@Puppypunter any thoughts? Is it really that easy, just 3rd gen DIR with 2nd gen connector for tapping reverse?
