    Hey guys,

Was looking a few weeks back for a thread and found one but the photos had since been taken down. Did it myself today and thought I would spread some knowledge.

    Difficulty: Beginner
    Time: 4 hours (incl prep)
    Cost: 8.95 Can of Paint + 9.56 2 Inch painters tape = 20 bucks

Start off by blasting any crud off. For me it would be years of undercoating

    20170826_132149.jpg
lightly sanded with 150 grit, just enough to scuff up the surface
    20170826_133144.jpg
removed the plugs for better tape adhesion. press in the middle to remove/place it

used 2" tape strip to get the area i wanted to paint blocked off. Then placed my newspaper over it

went full retard on the taping job, didnt want to take any chances with over spray

    20170826_141929_HDR.jpg
all tapped up and ready to go

I used a sweeping motion left and right and made sure i hit a high angle to get the corner of the pinch. Used Rust-oleum because of our winters here in Canada, didnt want to risk rust. that little spray nozzle adapter is a God-send.

I applied four coats. Two coats allowed a 5 minute dry time of one another and then an hour wait, before applying two more (as per cans directions). Flat black while drying.

Flat black after 1 hour of drying. At this point I have not applied a clear coat to it.

    EDIT:

Applied four seperate costs of clear coat to help deter rust and brace against any potential rock chips.

Biggest thing to take away is to have your patience with this. Follow the dry times, don't peel the tape off prematurely.

Hope this helps some people visualize painting the pinch weld
