thats the best part, a 10buck angle grinder from harbor freight and a drill and you can make it.

same as how its mounted to the cap. two bolts that are in the cross pieces. little captured bolts. it was a bit tricky getting a wrench in there to tighten down the rack to the bracket, but its doable.
    exactly.

Cool, thanks man. I appreciate the response. I wish I would have thought of this before making my unistrut rack, as this seems a whole lot sturdier and lighter, and about the same cost.

What's your opinion on making one of these for the front? Feasible? As I read more I see how easy it sounds to cut the aluminum.

The hardest part for the front is the curve of the roof. You could definitely do it (that's how prinsu started in the first place) but I'd imagine it'd be trickier.

its not bad, you could do most of it yourself. but i can help if you need.
so thats still doable with some basic tools. on my old first gen i made one. you first make a template out of wood then bolt up your alu to that and use a table router to shape it.
for me the harder part was making the mounting feet. but with the 2nd gen it would be a lot easier as there is holes already.

    Not enough...
    Oh shit. This is sweet!

But if anyone is interested in a real one, I have one for sale for a short box shell. Had it for 2 years, but just sold the shell and went with a bed rack instead

yea, you would just need to make the bracket to fit to the stock mounting holes in the roof.
