Yes, all gen. The design is so flexible you could swap from a tacoma to a chevrolet with the same mounts and side plates;)

Pumped to get my side plates on monday and start building the rack.

side note maybe we should make a separate thread for the @BeachBoy side plate option and let this DIY thread be for that so guys dont get confused?

Just gotta keep PM them, i finally ordered and paid last week. @Barnburner has the plates not sure how many? @BeachBoy does the invoice and paypal but i think they are still sorting through how to make this work. The demand is definitely there but be patient.

Are those specific to the Cabrac application? Or would they work on the roof rack side plates as well?

Also curious how much and where they can be purchased? I assume direct through CBI?

Sorry just went back and reread and realized these were from a FJ rack from prinsu. I just ordered there shell rack mounting feet but good lord they were expensive. But they are stout and will keep my rack the same height as my prinsu cab rack. @dunkshaw were talking about this and I think another guy had the issue of the the smittybilt mounts being a 1/2 inch to high if you have a prinsu already on the cab. Non issue for the guys who dont and you can get 6 mounting feet for 120 like listed below in the Amazon products discussed. You can also do the DIY and it is much cheaper with the square tube stock or unistrut.

They should work but would need spacers to mount to track if you wanted specific height adjustment.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I currently don’t have a cabrac so I’m not too restricted on my mounting height for the roof rack.

Honestly I keep going back and forth on whether I’ll even install this style rack. I’ve had the side plates sitting in my garage since June, and still would need to order crossbars. Although the prinsu style rack has tons of functionality and looks cooler, my Yakima rack meets my current needs.

Are you putting this on the cab or a shell? The cross bars are only $135 or so shipped for 6 bars plus hardware. Honestly if it meets your needs then no need but these racks offer so much more versatility then 2 bars and look a whole lot better. I think they evenly distribute the weight better and give more options for mounting other items for use offroad. It really just depends on what your use is. If not plenty of guys willing to buy it from you.

Its for a shell. I already have all the necessary hardware. Six 47" prinsu style bars from Tnutz.com is actually around $160 shipped to me. Money isn't the deciding factor, but is in the equation.

There's no question this style rack is more versatile/functional, has better weight distribution, and most importantly looks cooler and ups your overland cred immediately. I ordered the turn key kit in June before I even had a topper just in preparation for a roof rack. The used one I ended up finding and buying already had the Yakima setup on it. The two bar is sub par, but it does what I need from a rack currently. To proceed with the Prinsu style kit, I'll still end up spending around $200 minimum to complete the rack. Thus my deliberation.

Does anyone know if the newer style extrusion crossbars with the cutouts that Prinsu is now using are available aftermarket anywhere?

Or is the cutout proprietary to Prinsu/CBI?

    Yep.
Pretty sure they're proprietary to CBI. Haven't seen any aftermarket options out there.
