Yeah, that's what I'm concerned about, police has quite a variety to worth with really. I got clocked by LIDAR almost 2 years ago..

What would be the best way to prepare for the most commonly used methods? Radar and laser Jammer, anything else?

As for radar I believe if the detector has a nice clear view out the window it should work fine. This website shows the best mounting configurations of a laser jammer, specifically AL Priority, along with tons of information on specific detectors that can fit your needs. Anyway, used to be that you'd want 3 sensors in the front for full coverage but I see they've introduced a new transmitter that increases the area that a sensor can handle. Looks like 2 sensors and the TX is good enough now. Reasoning behind getting 3 was if you only had 2 sensors on the left and right of the truck and the officer targeted the center, busted. Likewise if 1 sensor was in the center and the officer targeted to the left or the right, busted. This video kinda demonstrates how the police can beat ALP. Notice when the driver approaches the bend at 0:26, the car and all of the sensors are pointed at the bush, but there's a clear line of sight to the cop car. Busted. At 0:29 when the ALP does go off you can see the sensors are mostly pointed at the cop car. Instances like that are where the ALP fails but its not too often that the officers are specifically trying, or know how, to defeat detectors.

Also with laser jammers, the system literally prevents the speed gun from getting a reading until the vehicle slows down, then you can shut it off and let the cop get a reading at a better speed. Usually you'd let it jam just long enough to slow down quickly. I've heard if its left on and the officer can't get a reading then it could be tried as an "obstruction of justice," at least in my province.

I can't think of much else they might use. Some provinces (Alberta especially) like to park plain cars/trucks on streets with a photo radar (MultaRadarCD), which uses K-band, at such a low frequency that North American detectors (like the V1) don't normally pick up on it. There are some cities in The States that have started using them as well, before they were only really used in Europe and Australia. I think there are a few new detectors that do support it though, like the Redline EX or ones that are link-able with the AL Priority laser jammers.

Just added my Escort 9500i, planning to use a hidden touch switch to for mute probably hidden in the radio bezel. I cheated with the cable taps, didn't want to wait on Amazon so I made my own with some network cable and a safety pin :)
