I thought of the go pro but with that much shake I’m afraid I’m not going to be able to see the video. Regarding the return of the carrier, they said that once it’s installed and unless the fail it’s noticeable they can do a replacement, plus the fact that if I remove it it will probably break apart. I’ll try to troubleshoot one thing at the time, tires, wheels, suspension, etc. I have an appointment for November 14th to replace the leaf pack and get the front blinsteins back to cero and install back the spacers. Also install Angie shims if needed.
I’ll do the string thing tonight if I get back at a decent hour.

pS: I tried to take it to the dealership but they said that my truck was “excessively modified” so they couldn’t do anything.

What leaf pack are you going to install? I think Wheeler's Offroad had the Deaver on sale right now. Otherwise, the Dakar seems to be the standard (and is what I have).

Did you do the u-joints when you did the center support bearing? If so, which ones did you use?

I hate for you to spend unnecessary money. I would send them the video of you pressing on it and showing how much play there is....that should be sufficient evidence that the part has failed. I really think that is where I would focus and not spend money anywhere else until that is eliminated.

We're also getting off-topic. If you find another thread to post the question, please tag me. I'd like to follow along. Otherwise, we can move to PM.

Actually, how the hell do you use the jaw puller to pull the yolk off the shaft ?

Edit: used the smaller arms of the jaw puller to pull on the ujoint mounts of the yoke. Worked well!

Guys I got a question, I been having acceleration vibrations on my truck for a while, I replace a joint and carrier bearing that was sloppy, I still have vibration during acceleration between 25mph and up, it vibrates the whole truck, I cant figure out what else I can do, everything is tight under it.

The end-all-be-all seems to be a tom wood driveshaft (sub $500), which doesn't cost too much more than having your existing driveshaft balanced ($350, IIRC).

Did you only replace 1 u-joint? Did you grease it/them? Are you lifted? If so, how much? Any center support spacer? Is the driveshaft straight? Wheels balanced? Alignment in check? Tested wheel bearings?

I think I figure out my issue, my rear u joint is bad, the one at the rear end, it has slack and I can see the shaft wobble a hair, I can shake it and it moves just a hair, so tomorrow that one will be replaced.

If you're in the Orange County area this shop is very good. I had the bearing but they also replaced my u-joints and balanced and painted the shaft.

It was around four bills. Marines may get a discount as the owner is a former Marine. Great shop and customer service. He said it was a good thing I came in. Didn't have too much mileage left in the current state of things.

    Sweet write up

While searching around I also cane across this video that helped too. Turned out to be about a 4hr job. The local dealer wanted $850

I had a lot of play in the CB but now I think the 30/55mph shakes were caused by this little guy.

Going forward, as a suggestion, when you take apart part of the truck (like the driveshaft), replace all the consumables, even if the seem OK. Remember, all the parts have the same mileage on them - if one is worn to the point of being bad, the others are worn, too.

In the long run, it saves time, and allows you to change parts when you want to, rather than when the part wants you to...

Did the carrier bearing flip , greased all the zerks . Vibration gone . It was pretty bad too, albeit while under there two u joints need replacing the Others still snug and seated properly. Before the flip the carrier bearing seemed to have some wear and play in the “rubber bushing “ but sat snug after the flip. Ordered a couple u joints to install this week , will see how the carrier bearing holds but am planning on swapping it out w that ranger bearing .

Thought this may help some people, I wrapped the 3 jaw puller with a ratchet strap in order to pull the yoke off. Came off without a single problem!20200210_130036.jpg

Oh no, heaven forbid you use the original fasteners and hardware and go against all mighty Toyotas wisdom!

That single use garbage is the stupidest thing I ever heard of. GM started that crap and apparently Toyota followed suit since they are in bed with them.

I have reused every fastener on every vehicle I have ever owned (GM included) and nothing ever fell apart. That single use stuff is baloney. That's me being nice about it.
