Just sharing a project that was a success so far on my 2017. I bought the yakima tracks on Amazon. I was considering a prinsu rack. I figured I would try making a rack first. So for about $90 in box steel and stainless boltsand I made this. The pictures should explain how it went together. Any questions let me know.
Material: 4 foot long 1/8" thick steel box cross arms
8, 3 inch long carriage bolts. The carriage head slides in well to the tracks with only minor grinding to allow them to slide past the bolt heads that hold the tracks to the shell.
Washers and nuts on eack "post". Got it all at the hardware store.
Make sure to mount it high enough to clear the shark fin on your cab.
I might add some side rails and aluminum tubing to cover the threads of the bolts later.
It was fun to make, and saved me $400. If you find c channel the project could be even cheaper.

What are you mounting on that rack?

How did you go about installing the Yakima tracks. I've been looking to do the same.

IMG_7426.jpg IMG_7427.jpg IMG_7425.jpg The tracks are simple. Lay it out square. Into the double wall part of a snugtop shell lid. U will need longer bolts than the kit comes with. Use silicone on each. The 6 foot kit was about $120 on Amazon. Drill slow pilot bit and than 1/4'inch hole for bolts. The kit has great step by step. I think I will put a tent up there. For now it's to move some lumber for home projects. Here are more pics:

Do I still need the longer bolts if I only want the tracks on there? I already have a Yakima rack that I want to put into it

this is great. I think a lot of people buy a shell and then later want to put a rack on. The hardest part is drilling the first hole....after that, you're committed.

And silicone around the holes too, I'd assume
