    Got it all squared away. To reiterate, previous owners account needs to be terminated in order for new owner to be able to activate smartstart box. In theory one could use previous owners login, but I would recommend again that. It's a shame accounts are allowed to be transferred, if that was viable I'd have almost 3 years prepaid.
    Again thanks to gbp for helping out.

    Did you get this alert due to the door opening using a key while the truck was running and not having the smart key near by?

    Did you no that you can leave your key in the car hidden of course, and use the lock feature on the SmartStart App. to lock the doors. Nice feature if you were out jogging on running.

    I installed a Viper remote start yesterday and realized the engine does once I open the door since it is a "push-button" start. I am super bummed. Is there a fix for this?

    No there is no fix for this. It does this for all of us that have remote starts. You can thank Toyota.

    .......and then found out it was a DSM200, even though it was listed as a 300. So now I ordered a DSM300. And requested a refund through ebay

    Well ain't that some sh&*^y stuff. Do you think that is going to affect us if we already have a smartstart system in place? This sucks 'cause this was a good inexpensive way to get remote start

    The existing customer will still be able to renew the subscription but a new customer will no longer be able to set up the smart start from home. A dealer such as KB Voodoo will have to sell the unit programmed ready to go

    That's a bummer - glad I got mine when I did 'cause I would be upset not having the smart start feature until I found a replacement

    Speaking of smart start, I got an email from DEI offering their latest and greatest gps capable(among other things)dsm350 for $49 and $30 off their service plan. Is it a worthwhile upgrade?
    I like the idea of being able to track the car, but not sure if I’ll have any practical use for that

    Cool. I just installed my 12voltsolutions yesterday. It took about 3 minutes of testing to realize that not knowing if my truck started or not might get annoying.

    They're working on a smartstart, but that brings the total investment to $450 ($250 for plug and play, $200 for app capability) just for remote start. I'm on the fence of what I should do next.

    I did too. I'm really tempted to get it. Same here, not sure i'm concerned on knowing all the gps locations and doing smart fences and such, but it is a good price for the module
