DIY: squeaky leaf fix

see post before yours, $22 online (according to previous post before yours), I would still hit up the dealership to see how much they are charging (the previous post is all the way out in Canada).

 

sorry to say it looks fine BUT all in all there is that two bushings on those packs that is the culprit weather you like it or not.

 

thats what i was referring to. but i will need two packs(i have four leafs). so by my math.. and what others have posted.. it might be the same price if i just go through the dealer.

im finding out tomorrow.

 

DAMN FORGET THE DEALERSHIP then lol, they'll probably end up charging you the same for a BRAND new truck!!!

 

So I was planning on upgrading my leaf pack within the next couple months anyways to the Icon pack.. would you guys recommend getting the new pads anyways? Or would I not need them if I replace the leafs? Was going to order the pads next week, and run them, see how they do and leave them on when I switch leaf packs. But if I wont need them with the new leafs, ill just get the icon pack now and not worry about the pads.

Thoughts?

 

I believe I paid $30 something dollars for 2 packs (2 in each) at the Toyota dealer for $30 something dollars. It is the best, most recent fix that Toyota came out with about a year and 1/2 ago. Make sure you're getting the same part if purchasing outside the dealer; not worth the aggrevation of doing it twice & wasting more money. They are a thick 1/4" + round grommet. You laugh when you see only 1/16" medal on the old ones when you take them out. Good luck!

 

My piece of fire hose is still holding up. Good to see we got part numbers for these now.

 

what did you do to keep the hose in place? I was reading within this thread and some were saying that the main problem was keeping their DIY fix in place was a no go (supposedly someone glued what they were using but I stopped reading after a while).

 

as i was finding and fixing some rattles i had today.. i had my gf jump up and down on the bumper to see if i could hear the squeaks... sure enough.. its coming directly from those shitty pads. ill be picking up the new ones from the dealer asap. cant wait to have a quiet ride again

 

Just put it in when I put the AAL in. Size may matter, I cut it slightly over spring width x about 3".

Just a heads up. This part did not fix my squeaky rear leafs. I think my squeak is originating from the upper rear shock mount.

in Canada ordering online can be tricky because our government likes to rape us on duty charges and then there might be "brokerage fees" charged on top of the duty, it's ridiculous what UPS and Fed-Ex get away with.

anyways, I went the DIY way using the belt from an old treadmill. The first time I sat in my truck without hearing it was nirvana.

we'll see how long it'll last, but it's been a week and was a very easy/quick fix

and your point is what? Do these parts say made in america on them? or is "China" printed on them.

so you are saying, that these parts ARE made in the US (or Canada or Mexico)

if that is true, then you are right,... no duty charges, however there still may be brokerage fees

 

Brokerage if shipped by UPS or FedEx , only PST / GST if shipped USPS
