OUCH! That would suck. I guess you'll have to pay attention before closing your tailgate in that case.

I'm not really a tailgate slammer. They close real nice and easy so hopefully the most I would get is a little reminder.

That would break both tailights as well.

I notice this thread is a year old already. Hopefully the OP is still around and can comment on the auto relock issue.

Seems like you could install a pinswitch in the tailgate and wire it to make the truck think you opened one of the cab doors.

There is a writeup on here somewhere for bed lights where someone installed a pinswitch. So it should fit with no problem.

I did this mod a few months back after my LED tail lights got stolen. Works great, i spent maybe $20 total. And i just ran a switch in my cab instead of hooking up to an alarm i dont have hah. Only suggestion would be to get longer bolt locks so they go in a little further. Ive yet to change mine out but would like to soon due to the fact they only go in behind the light less than a 1/4"

Hey i attempted this mod last week, i dont know if its because i have a wrong amp relays or what, im experienced in electrical work, but not familiar with why the actuator i have "Jack Hammers" when i hit lock. Unlock, it works great and just pulls in and shuts off, but with the lock, it extends to length, then "jackhammers" and pulls back maybe 1/2 in. Any ideas anyone. OP if you could give the part number off the actuator you used, it would be greatly appreciated.

You have it wired up to a momentary switch correct?

I used two of these exact relays http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002KR9GG/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

    and two these actuators
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002KR9PW/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A1IBW2HULNJLEY

Its most likely how the relays are wired up. I had a buddy of mine who is an electrician help me with the wiring. I could open it up and draw up a diagram of how I have it wired up if you need me to. I do know that my MoM-OFF-MOM is wired up with all grounds (-). the OFF is grounded to my truck and then two ground wires run back to the relays

No, its actually running off my alarm system. Although, i shot the wires, and they both produce the same Volts. I used the schematic diagram provided on the first page, and know that i did it correctly. I think maybe it might just be a bad actuator because if touch the terminals of actuator to the battery, it shudders one way as well. and not when i reverse polarity. Also, i dont know maybe this makes a difference, but i didnt use 2 actuators. I just used one on one side. should be the same since the actuators should be wired in parrallell right?

You can hear the tailgate lock from inside the cab on my truck, which I like because I know if its locked or not.
