First of all very nice work, I am definitely considering this mod.

I am curious though, do you ever have a problem with the slide bolts catching as pictured above? I'm guessing it would only be a problem on the side with the catches on the bottom if it happens at all.

I know this thread is pretty old but I have another idea that I just started working on tonight. I picked up most of the parts you suggested from a local member. I used one actuator and rod to secure the back side of the handle. I had to notch out the plastic a little to allow the rod to slide into place but its only semi permanent and holds the handle very securly. I'm pretty sure the handle would break before the rod does and if thats the case the tailgate still would not open. I haven't wired it yet but I will still using a dual relay set up (one for the tailgate and one for the canopy lock). Here are a few pictures:

I checked and looks like they have fixed the tail gate theft issue on my 2014 Dbl Cab TRD Sport. I tried to lift the tailgate out and they are securing it somehow on the left side. The right side will still pull up but the left stays put.

That's how all of them are. If you pull the tailgate off you will see a solid ring or cup on the drivers side but there is a slot on the bottom of the passenger side.

You take the tailgate of by pulling up on the passenger side then pulling the tailgate towards the passenger side and outward.

I like this, I think I'll need to investigate down the road.

I did this. Took FOREVER. (Cuz i can only work on weekends. ....too busy BUILDING Tundras and Tacomas during the week)
FIRST: I used these barrel bolts:
    a70622c2-a584-464d-83c4-5681c386cc1e_300.jpg
These are the closest picture I could find online. Overall they are simply 6" long, 1/2" diameter barrel bolts. Look in the fence hardware section of Home Depot or Lowes.

I followed the rest of this DIY to the T...... until I got to the wiring. ...

The relays were a waste of time money and effort. I blew out both actuators accidently when I tapped the wrong wires.
    INSTEAD.....
Route your wiring down the PASSENGER side and tap in on that side.
Find THIS bundle behind the passenger kickplate.....
    Find THIS bundle.jpg

    THEN tap into these wires.....
Tap THESE wires.jpg Find the BLUE wire with REDISH-PINK stripe and another BLUE wire with a BLACK stripe. I used T-splices and tapped in that way. Press the unlock button on the door. If the doors LOCK, switch the plugs. Done.

    Hey Lookylookitzadam
This mod sounds like just what I'm looking for!
I know it's from a long time ago, but is there any chance you would repost photos (the old links are no good any longer)
    Thanks much!

Where are the images ? I'm still new here and don't know what's going on half the time, so if I seem stupid, I'm not. I'm just ignorant to the way things are done.
