One thing I was thinking as well is a nice bench vice?? Any recommendations on those?

A good OBDII scanner is always nice to have handy if a CEL ever pops up or if you ever want to watch any of your sensor values while troubleshooting something on the engine (or if your temp gauge sender goes out and you want to monitor the coolant temp :anonymous:). I use the BAFX with the Torque Pro app but there are several readers that will work with the app for both Android and iOS. Somebody around here has an eBay link for a super cheap reader in their sig line.

I have 6-inch vise from HF and it's been just fine for holding anything I need it to and pressing in/out various bearings for mowers I've worked on.

Thats funny you posted that I am getting ready to repaint my entire hood and it will be a 1st for me but the paint is almost totally gone on it. It looks like it will be a fun DIY and look forward to seeing how much I mess up but it cant get any worse and I am just removing the hood and putting it in my garage so that will make it alot easier. I have even seen good results of spray paint work recently.

What height would you recommend for the floor jack? As far as maximum lift height and the safest but lowest weight load?

    4 run, 2 don't
Metric socket set; 3/8" drive is perfect. I think 8mm is the smallest you'll need and either 19mm or 21mm for the largest.

    Ratcheting wrenches, in metric.

Breaker bar, two different sizes in 1/2" drive.

Adjustable wrench, to hold a nut or bolt on the other side of something unless you want to double up on another socket set.

Metric socket set; 1/2" drive impact rated.

    Impact wrench 1/2" drive.

That'll cover damn near everything in your Tacoma.

If you have ADD, 35mm socket, otherwise snap ring pliers.

I've created "Tacoma" and "4Runner" tool bag sets that'd cover any and everything I'd need especially for trail repairs. Now I've got like 3-4 whole sets

The ones you'll sometimes use are your ball joint separators and whatnot.

OTC has several kits I recommend as I have their press kit and front end kit. Very useful.

Yeah that's the one I got...they put them on that parking lot sale every so often......$130...
If your a member of that club, they run specials 110~$120

The new daytons are 1.5 and 2 ton and have that narrow wheel base I'd stay away from....and only lift like 13in....

Let's add to the above... very handy to have in the garage if you're doing any serious (or not so serious) work:

Wall mounted first aid kit (Amazon has lots to choose from)
but more importantly because shit falls off when banging on leaf springs or anything else under the rig,

Oh the 1st aid kit is already in place no matter what I am doing my knuckles an fingertips always take a beating. I work in the medical field an lets just say my 1st aid kit was "free" lol but well stocked. I call such things as fringe benefits from a job

So back to the battery impacts.......the compacts are rated at like 300 ftlbs 350 etc. Those really shouldnt be used for like lug nut and heavy bolt removal that much as those are pretty heavy loads on those compacts. So would you all recommend going with a compact impact for the tighter spots in the truck and use my heavier air impact for the larger bolts or just move up to the middle size battery impact for everything? I am pretty certain I am going with Milwaukee now

Yeah the 1/2" impact ruint me.....after getting use to the breaking power...
I had to get a much smaller 3/8" impact.....found a ryobi display one at home depot for $25.....
    probably a joke to millwaukee one....but there's a $275 difference...

Ingersoll Rand makes the most powerfull bat impact @ 1500 ft/lb nut bust....$400 for tool only/ $600 for kit

H.F makes second with their 3/4in cordless impact...
