Been working on this for a couple of weekends now. My goal is to produce a camper that weighs 500 pounds with some gear in it. This video shows the shell is about 80% complete and it's around 200 pounds give or take. I want the ability to close the tailgate similar to the Kimbo. This is a 5ft double cab truck....I have not been able to find any 5ft builds or commercial products. Hopefully this build will be a useful reference.

I want something that is large enough sleep comfortably but not some huge hulking thing that loads the truck down and makes it tippy.

Lot of work left to do....I will post updates as I complete work. Will be working on the inside over the winter. The outside will have to wait until spring because I plan to use bed liner.

Haha I think a few people are at this point. I know I am.
Really well done OP, happy you are sticking with it and thanks for continuing to post updates for us to see.
Looking at doing something very similar this summer but still looking into to everything.

    This thing is awesome.
FWIW I had a cubic mini and had so many issues with it, I sold mine within weeks of having it. It was such a pain in the ass to use, maintain and too keep hot that it just wasn't worth it.. When it was working, it worked good and was awesome having a fire but the constant maintanence and faffing around it takes just sucked.
Ended up getting a cheap chinese diesel heater and it has been really good, doesn't have that fire aesthetic obviously but I do not miss my cubic mini lol.

It's small, for sure. I'm guessing it won't burn longer than 3 hours. I lived in a 66-square-foot tiny house with a similar stove that I'm pretty sure is even worse than this one :)

I figure most of the battle is finding a place to put it where it won't burn the place down and a chimney thru the roof. Once that is in place pretty much anything can go in that space. I'm unsure how much heat or cold I will need. It would not shock me to figure out at some point that I don't need either the AC or stove. Would rather plan for both and remove them then not have the option later on.

Right on, I hope it works out for you. I think I bought some cement board as a "shield" and had at least an inch of an air gap behind the cement and the wall and it worked really well, but definitely look into it as it's been a while since I did it.
There are also those ammo box stoves people are feeding with a pellet hopper system that might be another option if the cubic mini doesn't work out and you still want that fire type heat.

Again, love the project and think you doing a great job. Hoping to do something similiar this summer!
