Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
    Good contribution, care to elaborate?

I'm sure they don't clean the air as well, but I'm not looking to get every allergen and dust particle out of the air. I just want to keep enough out to prevent the fan from getting stuck due to dust.

I agree on home use. In fact, I didn't make one for our highlander because that vehicle is pretty airtight. The Taco though lets air in everywhere and just isn't airtight enough to worry about the differences in the level of filtering. Shoot, driving with the windows down brings in a ton of stuff that never gets filtered. But like I've always said, to each his own.

Want to also know why they aren't a "great idea" to use?

It's not like the paper filter is any greater in filtering stuff out.

I use one all the time. It's not so much they dust that it catches but you'd be mazed at some of the stuff that is caught by the filter.

Did this mod 6 months ago. Can't really tell if it made any difference from using paper filter. Couple of reason why I did it, 1-washable/reusable and 2-no out pocket for replacing paper filters.

With the left over filter and screen, I ended up making a couple for my girlfriends TC.

Finally did this for my truck, followed the instructions, but I did have to do quite a bit of trimming for my 2007 DC. It fits nice and snug, now I'll just have to wait a couple months to see if it works good. Like the idea that it is reusable so will post again to see how it holds up to the washing. Thanks for the idea!

After seeing your pic, I went out to look at my filter & a field mouse had eaten a hole in it ! I guess it's time for me to do the filter mod.

Very very cool, but is this the only option for a washable/reusable cabin air filter? I would think that they would be on the market somewhere (though i've never seen one).

Did this today. Thanks OP! An added plus... the larger frame parts that were left over worked just fine for the bigger filter in the wife's Jeep.

FYI Homie and Lowes sell the washable filters, I use them in my home and rentals, great if you don't mind washing them twice a year.
    Good post Moose
