I use to wash the OEM ones a few times. These are very similar. So maybe they are. At less than $7, I wouldn't bother. Not sure of the advantage of making your own washable filter if disposable ones are cheap enough.

 

There is no advantage. Some dudes just have a lot of free time on their hands and like making the simple more difficult.

 

Nah, not a whole lot of free time for me. Just like to make practical shit and like to work on the truck.

Don't forget the K&N one that is washable and has electroststic recharge spray in the cleaning kit. No, it isn't oiled. Yes, it is overpriced.

I very much appreciate your cabin air filter solution. I'd been thinking along these lines, the catalyst being that the Nissan dealership here in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil want to charge me the equivalent of US$ 185 for the usual disposable paper model for my 2007 Nissan X-Trail. On the national equivalents of E-Bay you can find such filters for about US$ 20, but I really want to make or buy a washable one.

Anybody here about K&N filters. Buy it once and keep it clean.

 

I've got one in every vehicle I own. You tend to keep them cleaner when it doesn't cost you anything to clean it, oil it and put it back in.
