i am interested in doing the DRL switchback mod and I already know i will need resistors. Do they make none led switchbacks? If not are there ones that don't have all the pods on it because I really don't like that looks when you can see all the different pods when not lit. I know vled has and is a very reputable vendor on the switchbacks but are pricey! On to my next question. Can you run a led side marker light without a resistor since it isn't a turn signal light? If not does anyone know of a bulb to use that will work in the side marker besides the amber colored ones? Appreciate any information. My end goal is to have all my front lights white. I already have the sylvania ZXE heads and fogs just trying to find the best way to rid of the Amber DRL and Amber side marker light. I will be leaving the Amber side reflector as is though because I know it is the law to have it.

Maybe wrong forum thread but I have posted in the lighting thread and have not gotten any response. Appologize in advance. I'm more interested in the DRL part. One last thing I keep seeing we have parking lights. Pis that the same as our side marker lights?

Hard to really get an idea of the brightness, sorry.
But I do have all white in the front. All LED.
Jumpers stuff - side markers and switchbacks.

    The sides have no resistors.
I can get a pic of the DRLs off so you can see those too, if it would help.
You may already know how it looks.

Just a HEAD'S UP - FMVSS-108 REQUIRES front turn signals are amber. Rear signals can be either amber or red. You potentially open your self up for a citation for running white turn signal lamps in the front. (Assumes the local LEO is aware; state police often use these kind infractions for an arbitrary stop) FYI

Switchbacks are white for DRL then Amber for signal. Nothing against the law. If anything you're updating your truck to be more "modern" with the later model vehicles.

You are right - unless I had a senior moment this morning, he was inquiring about going ALL white up front.

Yes, since the DRL is also the front turn signal, an all white DRL would produce a white turn signal - hence my earlier post referencing FMVSS-108

I thought switchbacks earned the name from switching from white to amber

How about we let the OP reply? Instead of assuming more.

I am referring to the drl switchbacks which is what I said in the beginning of my post. I do know it's the law to have Amber turn signals that's what I created the thread asking about if anyone knew of a none led drl switchback or if all are led. And if so do they make the led drl switchbacks without the pods showing or all of them pod style bulbs. Hopefully this clears anything up. And yes my goal is to go all white in the front while still obeying the law.

Which lights did u use for the side markers? Also were there anything special that you had to use for the LED headlights and fog lights And are the resistors for drl lights easy install?

I have amber LED - DRL's and rear turns. I installed the resistors to the bulkhead behind the rear tail lights. Fairly simple install and excellent heat dissipation. Good luck.

The side markers are from TW member Jumper. He has everything LED and a great guy to work with.
I don't have LED headlights or fogs. Sorry, can't answer that.
    The resistors were no problem.

    Not sure there's a non-LED switchback

The side marker light does not require a resistor. The switchback LED's will to avoid the hyperflash. Got mine from csjumper for the front and back. Mine still light up amber for dtrl (though there is a mod to change that) and white when the headlamp is turned on. With the headlights on it will still flash amber.

Yea I knew the side markers didn't require a resistor because they don't flash. I actually just went to o'Reilly and picked up the sylvania zevo 194 bulbs. I like them a lot and they price matched Walmart online price so I got two for the price of one. Installed last night. One side went as should. Went to put the other side in and I guess I didn't push the bulb in all the way so it fell off. I could still get to it with tweezers. Well got the tweezers and ended up knocking it farther into the headlight. So long story short I had to go through the whole process and had to take my whole headlight off to get the bulb out. What a pain in the rear!! 2 min job turned into a 3 hr job lmao. The last thing I need to do know is get the switchbacks and resistors and I will be done. Maybe do led rear turns but not sure yet but possibly end up doing it. With the resistors, is there a certain one you need and a particular wire tap anyone recommends? I've heard some wire taps are better than others but idk. And which color wires do you tap into or is it self explanatory?

So you attached the resistors to the bed part of the truck or part of the light assembly? Sorry I can't really tell from the pic

Put the resistors on metal. They get hot.
Also, for the side marker bulbs - tape them so they don't fall out on you. You don't wanna have to fish those suckers out again.
