I have to say... the upgrade was well worth it. I had a processor cleaning up the signal from the OEM deck, but the swap out made a world of a difference.

It’s their flagship model line with higher quality components and it absolutely does sound better. Plus you get a 2 year warranty.

Nice, Kenwood makes great receivers. I'll be upgrading my Entune 2.0 unit to a Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX. Excited for the 9" screen and Wireless Android Auto/Carplay.

Taking another look and I cannot see the AC indication section above the AC knobs. Maybe that is an option, not sure, but I do not see them in your pic. Thank you - KeithScreen Shot 2020-11-02 at 3.29.34 PM.jpg

The face slides up and down a few notches. From my seating position I can see it clearly.

Did you install this yourself? Any tips? I have the 2019 JBL sound system and am not sure if I will run into any issues with the harness.

Hi, my factory unit recently died, so I'm thinking about getting an aftermarket radio. I love this Kenwood model, because I really need the navigation, but I came across the AUCar Radio which is a huge tablet screen. If anybody can share the pro's and con's for both units? Thank you.

any radio is only as good as the software it runs. do you trust a multinational, multi-million-dollar a year company, or some random fly-by-night chinese company that only started selling vehicle components in the last few years?

Yes, I thought about that too. I read one review from Amazon about his ordeal returning "the 12" tablet" to China, and they sent another one with the same problem (I know measly one review may be biased)..... but with Kenwood, I could just drive 10 miles to the store and exchange it, and maybe get some guidance in person.

I'm actually more inclined to go with Pioneer or Alpine or Sony, but Kenwood seems to be the only one making 10" screen with built-in navigation (Garmin 3D seems nice compared to factory navigation). I'm going to get a DNR1007XR! It's not cheap though. It's "on sale" for $2,299 CDN... I really hope it's worth it.

    Thanks.

in my experience, software is usually slightly more polished, but still plenty of bugs with official corporate iterations. though for navigation, i would highly recommend a phone connection instead. integrated gps has always lagged in terms of features and updates over phone capabilities, so a phone mirroring iteration will generally have better routing/guidance.

I'm trying to see the point of the big screen.

If I was deaf and driving these big screens would make sense.

Don't people listen to direction anymore? Am I missing something.

I love my tech and gadgets, but I kind of don't want that distraction when driving.

I hope I'm not derailing the thread. If I am I apologize.

I'm just wondering what I'm missing.

Easier on the eyes to watch movies instead of trying to hold your phone and watch movies.

My phone is too old to connect. 2015 Samsung Note 5, Android 7, can't update anymore. But the battery is still 80% health, because I use it only for calls, message, and camera. I don't game or do anything else, not even watching any video.

But it's too old to connect to the Kenwood (the salesperson actually tried to connect and failed in the showroom). also, I lost about $50 CDN worth of McDonald's points because Android version is too to load MC app, and MC account can only be accessed via a cellphone..... so I stopped going to MC. I'm all Tim Hortons now.

I guess I'm more like a "visual" person, but also, that robotic voice is just weird, so... monotone. The big screen is mainly for playing movies so my wife or passengers don't get bored. I know it's dangerous to not watch the road. When I'm driving, I don't even touch my phone. If there is a message, I ignore it. If there is a phone call, I tap the answer button on my steering wheel.

Speaking of "message", the factory radio can "read" messages out loud to you, but apparently the Kenwood doesn't have that function... or the salesperson doesn't know what he's talking about. According to him, Kenwood can't "read" messages..... is this true?

You mean, watching movies when the car is not moving, right? True story, I was in a Nissan Chilkoot some 15 years ago. My friend was driving, and we were watching "Harold & Kumar" the first movie. We'd all seen that movie before, and we knew there was a nude scene coming up, and we almost crashed because the driver, my friend, was also watching and waiting for the nude scene, while the car was going 60...... luckily nobody died.
