I've got a 99 4x4 Tacoma and a bit of a problem... I've always had a "shimmy" on the freeway with my current set of tires. Before I had some very aggresive mud tread and assumed that it was the cause. After they came off I noticed the vibration and thought it was bad balancing. Three trips thru and finally someone has the decency to tell me that one of my wheels is bent. So now I'm looking around and have found a decent deal on some 16" wheels off an '01 Tacoma. I know that the middle cap on the wheel will have to get popped out on my fronts so my hub locks will clear, but otherwise this should work? Or is there not sufficient clearance for the hubs? I like the look of these stockers much more than the 15"s from my own year, and the price is right.(NOTE: Money is tight but I hate the shaking...!) Anybody know about this? Thanks!

Has anyone done this? Or maybe I'm not seeing anything on the site concerning this for a reason.... hmmm.

Seriously? Where do I find this out?

Well I'm new here but no stranger to car forums, but if you knew the offsets of the wheels you can figure out if you have enough clearance. Also maybe a picture of the wheels.

Hope I could help and good luck!

    Giggity! :D

They will fit, but the tires will rub on the front mud flaps at full turn when going over speed bumps etc. But this happened when I got new tires, didn't rub when the tires wore a little.

Let me re-state my biggest worry - I have manual locking hubs, not the auto locking ones everybody else gets now. The center of my existing wheels pop out so the hubs are accessable on the front. What I need to know is will the later Tacoma wheels centercap pop out cleanly so I can get to my hubs?

fyi here's the ad for the wheels with pics
