I have a 2001 Tacoma ext cab 4WD 2.7LT MT non ABS 4.30 gearing and the housing and third member are rusting out. I am looking at one for sale that is 2003 Tacoma 2WD 2.7LT AT ABS with 3.73 gearing. I would be using the backing plates, axles, and housing. I have another 4.3 third member I purchased earlier. When I sent him the Vin # he said it wouldn't work. I am assuming he meant because of the different gear ratio and the ABS. They both have the B07A axle code on the pillar. His picture of the truck shows it has 6 lugs. I hope that was not a stock photo!

I told him I only needed the housing but who knows if he took that into account?Any help with information would be much appreciated!

Prerunner and 4wd are 6 lug. Gear ratio will differ and 3 different (IIRC) ebrake mounting

    5 lug will be different

OK so I'm going to post some pictures why I thought it was/is 6 lug, and I hope it is!
He shows the stock # as 005051 and that same # 5051 is stenciled on the windows of the picture of the truck showing 6 axle lugs. This would be misrepresentation I think if it turned out to be a 5 lug.THIS 1.jpg THIS2.jpg THIS3.jpg THIS4.jpg THIS5.png THIS 6.jpg

Definitely a 6-lug. Gear ratio B07A identified as an 8" third with 4.30 gear ratio and 2 pinion open member. Though i wouldn't fully agree that sticker may actually match gear ratio in the punkin. Make sure your truck have the same gear ratio before running it because you're 4wd and don't want to blow your clamshell or visa versa

    Definitely a 6 lug unit.

I'd love to take the entire frame. I have the same truck with a bad frame.

May I ask where this truck is?

    I only want the frame.

I asked the same question. Also asked about getting the lower spring pads with the shock mounts on them. They said the whole thing is gone except for the trans and rear axle. AND I certainly hope it is the same axle they took off of that truck.

So your truck is a 2WD Tacoma(not a Prerunner) and it has 6 lug axles?

In the application charts they show for 2WD ext. Prerunner . Then they also show Prerunner in the second column. I just hope they have all this crap straightened out and send me what I need.THIS 7.png THIS 8.png

I would definitely rather take a road trip and pick up something like that instead of spending who knows how long trying to fix a rusted out frame. Texas rust free parts.

So I searched out all his other parts and came to the conclusion that the donor vehicle was a 2003 Prerunner. It would have been nice for him to just say that. I still don't have the part in hand though.

And thanks to you I know a Prerunner will have 6 lugs! Thanks again...I can sleep now knowing I won't have to go through a return process plus locate a new axle!

I bet i could find you a frame in Arizona. It's a long way to Michigan though.

They finally told me when pressed that this was not the right picture of the vehicle the axle was taken off of. So it could be a 5 or 6 lug axle. They could not tell me that. I guess due to the bureaucratic chain of command at this salvage yard no one person can delegate someone to get off their butt and go look at the part and count the lug nuts on the axle. It was only $675 shipped so it would have been a good deal, most are around $1000 shipped. Order was cancelled! The search continues....
