    lol.

    laziness...

i can alter your engine so you have to get out and turn it to start as well if you like. or are you just lazy??

and as far as ignorance, you better look that word up... i don't think you quite understand it's definition... which of course, is ironic. :)

5100's all the way around, OME 880's and AAL, BF's 265/75R16. Switched beds from Stepside to Fleetside
Love manuals (especially 4x4in'). I had a 2010 6spd, 4x4, access cab. I was pretty dissapointed in the tranny. Clutch pedal felt mushy (technical term!), cluncky changing gears, and couldn't believe my rpm was at over 2500 barely doing a 110km/hr in 6th gear. I even drove it like a granny to get better mpg's. Was driving under 100km/hr on highway, letting the older granny's pass me.

Went back to a 1st gen 6cyl 5spd, on average 4-5mpg better, and I can drive it the way I want to.

Here's my 2010 6spd fuelly badge...I'd go for an auto if I had to do it over again..and i'm not a fan of auto's.

Love my 6 speed, wouldn't have it any other way. First gear is great for offroading, especially in 4 lo, but can be a pain in traffic because it is so low. I don't really go above 65 or 70 so the low 6th gear isn't an issue. For the amount of extra fuel used, you really don't get there much quicker. Unladen, I have seen 23-24 on the highway holding 65. Around town; usually 17. I don't jump away from the lights. That's cool if everyone else behind me wants to, but they don't pay for my gas. I try to shift around 1900 as well. I was shifting closer to 1500 but saw too much engine load then I was comfortable with at that rpm when I got my ultra gauge. Lugging kills.

I think the 2012 has a different transmission. Or they did something to it. I've had two other 05+ tacos (05 and 09), and the moving the stick was like stirring oatmeal. It was OK, but kind of tough to drive and took some getting used to.

The manual in my 12 is way different. Clicks into gear, and has a much better feel to it. Even my wife likes it a lot more - and this is a big problem, because it's *my* truck.

Anyway, I am much happier with the tranny in my new truck than I was with either of the others I've had.

I couldn't agree more with you! I would LOVE manual in weekend/fun/sports car which I drive on occasion, NOT in daily driven work vehicle like my truck.

    Around.
    Vehicle:
'11 DC OR Timberland Mica. 6 speed.
Leer 100xr with adventure package, duratrack's, weathertech's, demello sliders, billie 5100's all around, URD short shifter, Diff breather mod. Hiese lightbar. Grillcraft grill. PIAA 520 severere weather driving lights. Other random stuff as well.
I love the manual in mine. I have never driven anything but a manual, and plan to keep it that way.
Adding the URD short shifter also made it a whole new, and better, beast.

I have to say I am pretty dissatisfied with the mpg if you drive the truck normally. If I want to get anything better than what I got in my v8 Chevy. Usually I am seeing about 15 day to day and about 16.5 on long hwy trips at 75 mph. I have managed 18 around town driving like an old lady and shifting below 2k and 65 on the hwy.

i must say that i was not happy with my 6-speed. i normally prefer a manual, but this had to be the worst manual transmission i've ever owned. i wish i read on this forum before i bought it. the clutch is very squeaky, and the dealer wouldn't fix it. the gears are not smooth, and the ride is rough. i take pride in being a 'smooth shifter', but this truck just isn't smooth at all.

The Tacoma has throttle following for better emissions and vacuum control, so the key to smooth shifting is to give it a half second for the RPMs to come down.

It took a lot of getting used to for me, but it does make clutchless shifting super easy, though.
