Do 3rd gen tacomas have black boxes that collect data?

Almost every car has a box now. My buddy is a cop and they pull the data to investigate crashes all the time.

 

I have also gotten map updates/head unit updates without going to the dealer.

It's easy... Just take the Tacoma body off, set it on a mid 70's truck frame, interior, engine and drivetrain and there you go. That's pretty much the only way.

It can't transmit data anywhere. It has no built in transmitter like a cell or sat link. It can be accessed and downloaded. It also cannot use your cellphone to transmit.

 

Downloading is 10 000x faster and cheaper than uploading to satellites.

 

They simply aren’t interested in the day to day minutiae of an orkin or cable guy.
