Do aftermarket skid plates trap moisture against the frame?

I have the stock TRD skid plate up front, but my transmission and cats are protected by this steel plate I bought from a now defunct company. It mounts up flush against the frame in a few places and uses some insertable brackets and hex-head dome machine screws.

Anyway, should I be concerned that it could be trapping moisture up against the frame? I usually give the frame a wipe down with CorrosionX before I install it, just to provide a clean lubricated surface between the two parts.

I would say no, you do not need to worry about that.

I think there is more moisture in the air than moisture caused by a skid plate

I think it would depend on where you live, I live near the coast and everything rust. Heck some of my hand tools rust just sitting in the shed. I also use corrosion x and fluid film on everything. Its a never ending job.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about it.
There is a lot of other stuff “right against” the frame.

If it concerns you much, you could squirt a little oil/ rust preventative on it every once in a while.

if you put a light coat of oil or greaae on it before bolting it up like you say I would not worry about it.

Just spray a little chain/cable lube in the gaps when you bolt it up. It'll wick in and stay put pretty well.
