I have some aftermarket Rockford-Fosgate speakers connected to the factory 1998 wiring harness, how would I incorporate it into that system?

Component speakers require a crossover to separate the highs from the mid/lows. I believe the stock setup just uses some sort of resistors that are in line with the tweeters and speaker wires.

Component setups usually come with tweeters, mids (the door speakers), and a crossover. If you have aftermarket speakers, they most likely have a tweeter mounted on them in the center of the cone, unless you bought a component mid.

I have these speakers installed, looks like it has a tweeter in it I'm not sure. Would there really be any difference if I added in tweeters in the factory locations?

Thanks for the offer. I'm overseas at the moment so I can't commit to anything right now, but I'll keep that in mind.

Not really. To make it worth it you need crossovers with new speakers and tweeters. There is better sound staging with the tweeter higher, but it's still not aimed at the driver, so you don't gain much.

Ah okay. Guess I'll just keep them disconnected.

I added some inexpensive Kicker tweeters to my doors, along with a new radio. I kept the stock 6x8s, and the whole system sounds really good, along with my 12" sub. I found some that came with a flange that completely replaced the stock tweeters, looks great too.

Over the weekend, I added 2001-2004 door panels to my 1995. Does it fit? Perfectly! Is it plug and play? Nope! Passenger side plugs in fine, but the drivers side requires the wiring harness from the newer 01-04 trucks. Also, you’ll need to move your lock wire pin to a different location. Also, you’ll want to dig your original speaker wiring out of your original door harness and tie it in to the new harness for simplicity.

Going to pull the trigger, and try this mod. In your photo, looks like you have no power mirrors/ control? My taco has them SR-5 95 1/2. Looking to figure out the wiring, connections for the drivers side. did you do any notes on color code matching with the old/new?. Was there any issues with the door clips. I see the 01-04 has a slight diff in configuration door clips. I have the same color, interior, how do you like the new light color of Toyota Gray> Thanks

You’ll want all the wiring from the 01-04 truck on the drivers side only. Pass side should plug in assuming you had power doors to begin with. The differences are audio (swap that over from the original harness) and the door light (that power splices in to the door unlock I believe.)
