Hi, I'm New to this Forum.

I've looked around and have gotten very helpful info.
Want to know if someone can throw me a lifeline :)

    I Have a 08 single cab Tacoma 2WD 2 TR engine.
I have a leak on my rear DIFF and want to know if I can take the rear Diff Housing from 2ndGen with a bigger engine and replace my rear diff housing.

I have a similar issue that this guy encountered.
    take a look for reference:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/looking-for-a-new-rear-differential.681762/

May I mention I live in Costa Rica Toyotas here are huge, Hilux,Land Cruisers are everywhere TACOMAS not so much, and finding parts is not that hard but Not a lot of people have knowledge over here working on Tacoma Trucks .... so I wanna ask the real Connaisseurs. :)
I was able to find a Rear diff housing that was on a 2nd gen 4.0L. Mine is 2.7 L.
I'm not gonna change anything from my diff gonna keep the same ratio and gears just planning on replacing the housing.
I wanna buy the part so I can just have my guy take it down put the rear diff in the new housing and mount it back on.

It has the same REar Diff 8-inch case.

My question is will the housing work?

Are the measurements horizontally from the left rear drum to the other right drum the same?

What other factors do I need to take into consideration before purchasing?

Any insight would be of great Help!! :)

No, some are 8" and others are 8.4. Width is the same, center section is not.

The 6 lug locker and non locker housings I believe are different, I'm not sure if the 5 lug and 6 lug non locker axle housings are different or not.

    Is the truck a pre-runner (6 lug, 2wd) or a 5 lug?

    Everything matters.

    Would a 2008 X-runner complete rear fit a 2013 4x4 Sport?

The X-Runner will have a 5 bolt wheel pattern and your 4x4 is a 6 bolt.
