    I saw an ad with several Tacoma’s and some said 3.5 Atkinson and some just said 3.5. So it made me wonder.

    Yes, but . . .

    It is a faux / simulated atkinson cycle done with the VVTiW system. And, it can be mostly shut off with the OVT / vF tune options. The best part is that typically the MPGs bump up also.

    Fun stuff.

    All Tacoma third gen 2.7L I4, 2TR-FE engines, are not Atkinson engines.
    All third gen 3.5L V6, 2GR-FKS engines, are Atkinson engines.
