Do all white paints peel?

2017 with 86,000mi and I'm the original owner. No issues with paint peeling, I take care of the paint and when i notice a rock chip I'll use Toyota's touch up paint pen to prevent it from rusting of getting worse.

 

My 2021 TRD started peeling around the left rear window last October, It gets worse every day and has now started tp peel around the left front window. I got the letter in November. I visited the local dealer this week and was told to be patient as Toyota develops the repair. I hate my truck now as I see this every time I drive it.

 

definitely gives us all some hope! Glad to see you still have the old school too is it manual by chance just out of curiosity?

 

first 2021 I have seen peel. Best of luck to you. Mine has not yet but I would feel the same exact way. When was the truck made? If you don't know its on the door panel above the tire information

 

My ‘17 is peeling, made in Mexico. I’d still get a white truck again though, they get better gas mileage.

Yes it’s got a manual 4 speed, when I bought this truck I bought the most basic truck possible. Can you believe it came with no A/C, PS, radio, RH mirror, rear bumper or even floor mats. I remember I really wanted the 4 wheel drive but that was going to add 3 thousand to the price, I remember thinking at the time that that made it almost twice the price

My 2017 access cab built in Texas is peeling around drivers window. 44k on the clock and just checked the Toyota website and no open recalls or campaigns.

Now 4wd is like an extra 10 for some lol. I refuse to buy a truck without 4wd as it doesnt seem like a truck to me without it. Im also in NY so it comes in handy. I have many other uses for it as well. Drive on beach requires it and I tow my jetski. Would rather have it then not. Love to hear its a manual though dont find many anymore sadly. Had one of those trucks at a toyota dealer I worked at as the shop truck sooo many people learned stick on it. Had diesel in it at one point body was half rotted but you couldnt kill it we tried all tried...

Just for shits and giggles, I took a paint meter to my 2019 Super White OR. Someone had mentioned 3-4 mils thickness on Mexico built Tacomas.





The paint was pretty much at 3 mils, some lower, some higher.
Took my paint meter to a Coworkers 2019 OR and was about 1 mil higher, Red paint, Texas built. If my paint flakes out, I’m wrapping!
