Do exhaust tips affect the sound when you have an aftermarket muffler?

I have a Flowmaster 40 series on my 09 trd sport do tips affect the sound at all I got my tip off of my 00 Tacoma I sold and it sounded better than the 09 does.

 

I know most will say they don't but I seem to think they will affect the tone/pitch. I have a Flowmaster 10 series and it was really raspy. I got myself a resonated tip and it made a world of difference.

 

Yes, I know. But think about why horns are flared at the end. They are that at for a reason. I had a rather large tip when I had my 40 then hacked it off and had made it quite a bit quiter.

 

I just have a 30 dollar tip on mine and I swear it needs a better tip
