Just something I noticed after swapping wheels. Wanted to make sure the center caps were aligned. Test drove around block to make sure nothing fell off. Now the center caps are misaligned. I would expect the tires to rotate at the same speed. For anyone thinking of getting a 3rd gen - DONT. This is a deal breaker.

EDIT: Guess I get a demerit for not knowing how differentials work. Thanks guys.:anonymous:

How would that be possible especially making turns? Wheels don't necessarily always rotate at the same time.

The key is to drive in reverse. Keeps everything in sync

I got it! Use 4-Lo and lock the diffs, let the wheel hop keep everything in sync.

The question was not trolling, the 3rd gen thing was.

I assume it had to do with the differential.

Try driving around with a spool in the rear and on Drag Radials , both tires turn same speed and gets interesting on slow speed corners LOL !!

Oh come on the question had to be trolling ... geometry man. In a turn, the inside radius is smaller than the outside radius, therefore smaller circumference therefore less linear distance.

I've heard it's best to do it on dry pavement to keep things lubed up.

If the center caps get out of sync...driving in circles in 4LO on pavement ought to get them back in sync.

On a more constructive front ... I seem to recall center-cap inclinometer. That might work well for people with high degree of OCD :)

Jack up the truck and put truck in neutral to straighten them out.
