    I have gotten conflicting info.

    I have a 2008 Tacoma with 205,000 miles. I do know, without a doubt, I have the V-6 Engine.

All I have ever done was change Waterpump, Vent blower motor under the glove box and change the plugs. I just had the truck repainted, due to severe paint failure.

I am worried about the mileage and whether or not I have a chain or a belt. Either, way, what is the mileage for either that one needs to have it changed. I know you can cause engine damage if the chain or belt fails while running it on the highway.

The 4.0L V6 has timing chains, they rarely fail.
Typically the first symptom of a stretched timing chain is timing codes and/or a rattle on startup after the truck has sat for awhile.

The 1st gen Tundra has belts. That causes some confusion.

Make sure you change your oil regularly, and you wont ever have an issue.

timing chain is best... only thing near perfect is gear-driven... an old grease monkey told me years ago, "your motor oil is excellent if it has clarity like salad oil"...
