    Thanks for that info. Are the "chain hooks" on the receiver hitch safe to use for recovery tows? They appear fairly sturdy, but I have my doubts. Suggestions for a receiver slide-in or otherwise appreciated. Something that works w/D-rings and a good recovery strap, I suppose. I'll be shopping for those items soon.

    Absolutely not. Get one of those slide in D-ring things. Also, and you probably already know this, don't use your tow ball either. I know in a pinch people will put the hitch pin though the empty reciever and a strap. But do yourself a favor and just get the D-ring thing.

    I carry one even though I have plate bumpers with recovery points now. Just in case I need to pull someone else out :thumbsup:
