has anyone ever replaced the power window regulator and motor and then found that the window wasn't going fully down all the way anymore?

I converted my truck from manual to power so I bought an original oem set of window regulators and motors for my truck but now both of the windows still stick up 2" when it stops and its all the way down. it goes up all the way just fine but when it goes down, you can hear what sounds to be the gear stop make a muted "clunk" so im pretty sure its not hitting anything in the door and the gear just runs out of teeth.

I figured I would ask, because I bought these from a guy who said they came from a 2 door 01 ext cab and I have a 2 door 04 ext cab so im thinking he gave me the wrong parts or something, maybe from a 4 door but he insists he only had one Tacoma parted out and that was an 01 ext cab and that's what they came off of.

I "thought" all first gens had the same doors, windows, and power regulators and motors. the only difference I know of is the and the door panels, door wiring harness, and door switches, changed for 01-04 year trucks.

doing a reverse part number search for the regulator (69802-35090) and the window motor (85720-35040) shows the same window regulator and motor part numbers are used from 95-04 but those lists sometimes are not accurate

Wow you are lucky! At least your windows still work in the meantime. You should be able to find some replacements fairly cheap.

you must have given me good luck saying that, I just now found a pair for an 03 ext cab taco in MN and it was only $18 and $19 plus $25 shipping so that's pretty good in my book plus they give a warranty on them.

it was at http://www.abcofridleyautoparts.com/ if anyone reading this wants to check their great deals on parts

I got fantastic news today, the guy I bought those 01 window regulators from agreed to give me a full refund on them, not even a restocking fee!

I told him I expected nothing and he didn't have to help me but I asked if he "might" be willing to take them back and he said ok and because I was nice and not demanding he take them back like most customers would, he waived the restocking fee too. so even though I bought them from him like 2 months ago, he is taking them back.

now its a week of waiting on the new regulators, then I can send these back and get a refund on them when I fully expected to have to be stuck with them and try to resell them myself.
