My new to me tacoma (2 months with a 2006) has had a worsening "whiiiiring" or jet engine sound. It always happens on start up, but sometimes goes away after 25 minutes of driving. Now it's worse and constant.

Sounds like a bad fan clutch to me, but it passed the rolled up newspaper test. When engine warm, I can freely turn the fan. Here is a video....

Thanks in advance for your help! This forum is awesome!

I finally got around to getting a automotive stethoscope. It sounds like it is coming from the AC pulley. I may wait a while until I tackle this project.....

Sounds like an alternator whine to me.
