    Hi new member here!

Ive tried the search feature but my search-fu may be weak and i cant find the answer

Im gonna order a new TRD OR V6 MT in cement (STOKED!!)

Im one of those guys who doesn't like a lot of crap on or in my car and am wondering if i need the technology package. I was thinking about the basic tech package (blind spot, park assist, rear cross traffic assist, and color coded bumper). Or maybe go old school and no options.

Anyone ever get the tech package and find the alerts a nuisance? Or not get any package and wish they did? I'll prolly get an aftermarket rear bumper anyway which might not cater to the sensors anyway.

This might just be my car for the rest of my life so i want to get it right.

    Thanks!!

Only thing worth while is the rear cross traffic, that works exceptionally well, rest is worthless if you use your mirrors and rear view camera. Getting shot of those stupid chrome bumper caps is a must though.
But rear cross traffic & blind spot doesn’t work with 99% of aftermarket bumpers, and obviously chrome bumper caps are irrelevant with aftermarket bumper.
None of the options are a nuisance though, but you can turn them off if you don’t like them.

yeah I'm kinda figuring a few hundred bucks is ok for some safety features and a non chrome bumper. Not gonna go with the higher levels of packages, not a huge fan of leather seats and don't want the moonroof. its my first new car so its interesting being able to make it the way i like it

Be prepared to wait for a little while to get the Manual, took about 4 Months from when I ordered mine till it was delivered to the Dealer, well worth the wait.

I got the basic off road with a hand shaker. I don't regret getting the basic package. Only thing I wish I had was a color matched bumper and maybe heated seats. But in order to check all the boxes on my list I was also checking things I absolutely did not want like a sunroof. Wasn't worth it for me, but it might be for you!

What will be interesting to see is how all the tech fares down the road, in terms of failures and repairs.

It may be hunky dory. Or it may be a bunch of bleeping. Only time will tell.

Do a search on the tech package, there were comments online that Toyota would not adjust the sensors for a lift (YMMV). If you are not lifting not an issue.

I got it strictly for the heated seats, haha. Radio upgrade is meh. Used my moonroof once. They gave me tha tech package upgrade for $1100. They wanted $800 just to add heated seats to the basic package. Would I do it again...yup.

The blind spot is on all the time for me, and I love it!! Park assist has saved the rear bumper twice in as many months. I also keep headlights in auto, and air conditioning the same. Glad I went with P&T!!

I appreciate the heated seats during the winter months and feel that alone was worth it. The rear cross traffic is very nice especially in Costco’s/Walmart’s parking lot. I came from a Jeep so having the sunroof and rolling down or to the side the rest of the windows really does it for me. Sunroofs to me though are a maintenance item or at least the used to be. Maybe they are better now. I enjoy to take my truck off-road and wonder if that’ll work against my sunroof when I really flex the truck out. Get what you want the first time if money allows

I had a compact before the Tacoma, so the blind spot, park assist, rear cross traffic assist came in handy until I got used to the bigger size. My wife loves the heated seats in the winter. Also, think about if you want a double cab or access cab and 6 foot bed or 5 foot bed. Sounds like you plan on keeping the Tacoma a long time so you definitely want the correct configuration for your needs.

I did not get the tech package. If I had experience with some of the features in another vehicle then maybe I would have wanted them (or not).

I added my own heated seats. A lot of work but not expensive to do yourself.

does rendering the sensors inoperative (with an aftermarket bumper) constitute an illegal equipment violation?
