My truck had 1/4" spacers when I bought it, and I removed them since no tire shop around here would touch it (for balancing or rotations). Found out the PO had picked 16" rims that rubbed the calipers, so ended up with Bora .75" spacers (thinnest hub-centric, lug-centric option out there). Glad I did after hearing stories such as yours.

Yes that will work. Not very hard and I don't believe it's all that costly

Plus recovery gear, and I frequently carry camping gear or other heavy crap. It adds up quick.

Somehow I missed this. I run 35x10.5s on the front with 1.5" spacers and 3rd gen 17" wheels and still rub the frame. I think it's more prudent that you start listing the actual wheels and tires you're considering

I have heard it’s a pita to press the out but I don’t mind
i am not worried about rubbing the frame because that is inevitable. The rubbing of the wheel on the caliper is what I’m worried about. The inside face of a 15” wheel has been rumored to contact the edge of the calipers. But i will still link wheels and tires so you can see.

Honestly mine was from being a stupid 20 something and failing to torque my lug nuts. But it happened on a curvy section of I-70 at 70 mph. Thank god the wheel didn’t go through anyones windshield in oncoming traffic or house when it bounced over the barrier.
