Don’t waste your breath. Reading comprehension is not for all people. The guy you’re replying to clearly doesn’t understand that OP just wants to know if he will destroy his stock gears if he went to 35’s before regearing.

i mean. op did mention the points he was commenting on so i wouldn't go that hard on him. hes just recommending real reasons to regear first because damaging gears isnt a factor. actually 5.29s are the weakest ratio due to less teeth engagement.

what takes the brunt of the abuse is the automatic transmission. its gona be gear hunting like crazy. 5th and especially 6th will be nearly useless besides when going 75mph+.

Bay Area. Just moved to Gilroy, CA last week.

I'm in the bay a lot. (Update: I went to the same shop, he quoted me 2500 for body mount relocation, and 11,000 for a 3.5 rough country lift and body mount relocation with trimming. So stupid)

I thought he was missing some chromosomes when I heard that price. 2500 for the cab mount relocation:censored: then he basically scolded me for telling him the bilstein set up I wanted. He's like "minimum 3.5 to 4 inch lift kit for a 33! Let alone a 35!"

Sounds like he didn't want the work and gave an insane quote just to see what you would say.

I changed tires from 31 to 32"and I can feel the toll on the driveability.

Another shop just quoted me 900$ for parts and labor. At least it's way better than 2500.

(Also the other guy with the astronomical prices just called me and said "he'd take care of me and hook me up" if I did go with a 35" tires. it would be north of 22K for labor and parts...):spending:

OP, make the drive to LA and see @Ricardo13x I guarantee you will not regret it. Square you away with a proper suspension set up. Don’t do the rough country lift. I know some people will say that it’s fine for “light off roading”, they are wrong.

11k for a rough country lift is bananas.

If I could go back and do it over, the first thing I’d have done was a regear and tune.

I really enjoy driving my truck. Without the gears though, road trips with my 33’s trying to use cruise control would make me wish for a car fire.

Everyone has their opinions, just gotta weigh what you want and the driving conditions you find yourself in most often.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

The dude obviously has no f'n clue what he's talking about. Like, literally, no clue.

As mentioned before, lift doesn't have anything, what so ever, to do with clearing tires... nothing. (Unless we're talking about a drop bracket lift... which we aren't. Or, a sizable body lift... again, we aren't)

I would seriously never go back to that shop, for any reason.

Never planning to. Its ridiculous. He said even a viper cut wouldn't be enough space for the 33, let alone a 35. He said I'd have to remove the whole front bumper to do that. Wasted time visiting his shop today.

@JumpmanTacoma17 how soon are you looking at having the parts for the lift?

    I see you're looking at 6112/5160
    AAL
    UCAs
    Cab mount relocate

I agree with what some others have said, skip the AALs. A leaf pack is the better way to go. I'd suggest Alcan or Deaver. Deaver would probably be cheaper (due to less shipping because the are in California, Alcan is in Colorado). I've just never been able to get those a'holes at Deaver to answer the phone or email... so I ran Alcans till I did Chevy 63s.

Anyway... what's the timeline? If you want to bring it over here, I'll do the lift. I promise I won't charge you 22 f'n thousand bucks either
