Do I need to upgrade suspension for trailer

    I have a 2013 with tow package and TRD off road package. Has ~95K miles. I am going to be getting a camper trailer that will be around 3900lbs loaded. Looking for advice on if I should do any upgrades to my suspension. My truck still has it's original shocks, etc. No upgrades or replacements.

    I second a good weight distribution hitch. But would also add a set of air bags to help.

    First thing you need is new shocks. Original shocks aren’t great shocks and at 95,000 miles are done, wore out, crap. Look at Bilstein 4600 shocks. They are suggested replacement shocks for original equipment but are way higher quality than the original shocks. (If lifted get 5100’s). Don’t want to make this about shocks. Bottom line is you need new shocks, what ever brand or type you decide on.
    As already mentioned a WDH is a good idea too.
    There are lots of other suggestions too (like upgraded leafs, air bags etc.) but I wouldn’t get anything else until you tow the trailer for a trip or 2 and see how it handles

    If you're going to be climbing a lot of hills, get a different truck. I just got a 3,000 pound camper that I drove 1300 miles home through Kentucky, and Tennessee. It struggled to climb those hills and mountains. I was really disappointed in it. It's a 09 Off-Road with the MT.

    Here's an excellent video on air bags vs WDH and what swayed me to use a WDH over airbags on my tundra. For example, on my tundra, after getting it set up properly (it takes a good bit of time) my front AND rear squatted 1/2" when loaded up. The truck sat pretty damn level and that was with a 900 lb tongue weight. Basically, with a well setup WDH, there is no need for airbags in most applications.

    You should be fine. But just fyi these trucks aren’t great at towing for the long term.

    Here’s 5k+
    Was OK pulling it on flat ground. It was horrible going over any type of incline. Declines are fine with trailer brakes.

    Thanks to all for the feedback. As Sprig said, at 95K, the shocks need to be replaced no matter what. Will be going with the Bilstein 4600's. I will likely also go with a WDH since I am a ,newbie at pulling a trailer.
