I'm looking to get some bigger tires on my tacoma. I'm currently thinking about 33's but every time I see people putting these big tires on a tacoma they cut into the cab mount. Is it possible to have no rubbing tire rubbing and 33s without chopping my frame? If anyone is pulling this off let me know what tires and suspension you're running. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

A cab mount chop really isn’t a big deal and you’ll only benefit from it. Plenty of fill plates available and any decent shop can do the job for a couple hundred or so.

You can go skinny with 255/80/17 to get 33” with no rub. But 285 gonna need to cut. It’s not a big deal at all an I am sure there is someone in your local area on TW that does them in their garage.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    255 85 16 or 255 80 17 are 33" (which there is nothing really magical about.)

On OE wheels, no lift, rub, chop or trim.

Budget friendly. No future maintenance funk. No warranty grief.

    CUT IT!!!:sawzall:

It's really not that big of a deal, you're not cutting the structural ladder frame in two, you're cutting a dust cover that was cheaply made from stamped steel that's oversized for assembly convenience at the factory.

Trim it up, run the 33's and be happy.

I’m not rubbing with 285x70x17.. but I put fox shocks on, aligned it with more caster and cut lots of plastic out.

you can run 33(285s) without rubbing if you are at or above 2" of lift and run the stock UCA. just keep any aftermarket wheels you buy below 6mm offset and you will be clear of the cab mount.

i run a 295/70R17 with stock UCA, King coilovers at 2.3" and have a 0mm offset wheel and i am clear at full turn even over obstacles

we also install tons of similar lifts and wheel/tire combos on Tacoma and 4runners here at Westcott Designs in Phoenix and have little to no issue with cab mount rubbing unless an aftermarket UCA gets installed or wheel offset is high

Ya, they have new subframe which can move the entire front lower arm mounts forward 1".

You could also install new LT (push the tire outwards) or custom suspension which moves the tire forward 1" (built into the lower control arms lower uniball/ BJ location).
