After searching around forums, I have come across many people saying lifts do not help clear bigger tires. But then again people say you need a minimum of 2.5" to 3" to clear 35s. Which one of these are true? Im pretty confused, any help would be appreciated.

Tire ends up in the exact same place in the wheel well at compression wether you're stock height or lifted whatever amount, lift alone might help you clear daily driving but the only way to actually fit them is :sawzall:, :sawzall:, and then :sawzall: some more

Obviously you can't clear them without a lift

Lifts can help with solid axle applications because you are raising the frame above the driveline (i.e. the diffs).

On an IFS the diff is fixed to the frame so you are limited to the range of motion of the CVs thus retaining the factory geometry. The exception is drop bracket lifts.

So you don’t need a lift to clear or fit them however you will need to cut the fender liners and cab mounts.

There are a few threads out there about fitting 35s, but not many. Mostly bc of the amount of work is required to fit that large of a tire. Most wont want to go to that extreme to fit a tire.

Cmr will inherently give you the most clearance, but an aggressive cmc should be plenty I think

Gotcha, so what you're saying is that you'll have to do the same amount of trimming for stock height or 3 inch lift?

Let's first start with: What is your intended purpose or how do you want to use it? Why are you considering 35's? Do you have a budget?

Offroading is my main purpose. Looking to do the Rubicon this year, along with just as difficult trails like snake lake and even try out slickrock. Budget kinda depends, not looking to throw 10k at a LT setup.

Have you settled on a wheel/tire package? Have you considered your backspacing and alignment? How willing to cut are you?

I already picked up some wheels. I went with SCS f5 16x8 0 offset. I'll end up pairing them with 315/75r16 Milestar Patagonias. cutting isn't an issue unless it's serious like firewall tubbing

I have that exact package and I'm rubbing uca at full lock (I have factory uppers still), I'm going spc's to get the tire off the spindle but be prepared for that. On the plus side the wheels look sick

Bilstein 6112/5160s, I'm at notch 4/5 I think? But yeah I have a cmc I may or may not have to redo, we'll see when I get the spc's on and the lowers cracked forward, pinchweld fully flat smashed outboard, fender lines removed and intake rerouted to the cowl, it's been a process but im so stoked on it.
