Maybe a dumb question, but I'm picking up a new truck on Tuesday and I'm wondering if all new trucks usually come with all the current tsbs installed?

Think it depends on the tsb. Some aren't done unless a customer complains. Some are for certain locations such as high altitude. So I believe like I said it depends on the tsb.

When I worked at a dodge/chrysler dealership I was told the car has to have all computer TSB's installed as part of the PDI. When they brought them in it was hooked up to the computer and while that was running tires all things that could be checked when not running were.

    Rarely.

But I assume your question is in terms of buying a new 2021. 2021 MY's have not had any update or T-SB (that I'm aware of). Then again, this time last year I don't believe anyone thought that the 2020 MY would have an update before production stopped.

I would say yes on Recalls, no on TSB's.

TSBs are for professional use when a customer complains, not a recall, service campaign or an everyone needs everything.

It may vary by dealer though, but I doubt many want to pay a tech for a TSB that may not be needed.

Once your deal is close to done, you could try to add a requirement for all computer TSBs to be included, as well as a proper trans fluid level check (which will never happen as part of the regular prep)

I just got a 2021 and was wondering too if known issues (recalls & TSBs) in prior years would be addressed in the 2021s.

    Following for more insight!

It's my understanding that, if an issue is identified during PDI, it is done by the dealer before the sale.

Toyota does make corrections to fix issues (say transmission shifting) during builds.

The 2020 and 2021s are essentially the same, right? I mean mechanically, as I know the option offerings changed a little bit.

Did the 2020s require an update or have any other *common* issues pop up?

Blackout package - planned: black bed logos, black wheel vinyls, front seat window tint, tires.
I can tell you that my 2021 with a few shy of 1,000 miles is gear hunting like Elmer Fudd hunting wabbits.

Just took a 700 mile one way road trip and I scheduled the ovtune for the day after I get back.

The (AT) 2020's rolled off the line with 04B80, but by the time I purchased my 2020, it came with 04B81.
And what do you mean by "common?"

By "common" I mean...affecting all or at least a significant chunk of the MY (not just a lemon or a random defect specific to one guy's truck).

There are a lot of T-SB's for each MY, all covering different things. @tonered's signature tells you how to find them. Other than the ECU updates, there are really only a handful of T-SB's that users contact the dealership for. Personally, I have never brought any truck in for a T-SB. I've never really had a reason to.

Similar here. Usually the dealer would find the TSB that fit the problem. I don't get the struggles on the Toyota side.
