Lol yes, well said. I think the Tacoma’s ECU’s have been out long enough to be reliable for the most part, it’s when a new design comes out of anything electronic or mechanical that we become “beta testers” o_O

Good thing is we're talking about Tacomas. There's nothing state-of-the-art in these bricks. :D

My 08 prerunner has 262k miles with the 4.0 and 6MT. it’s a base model with manual windows and locks but mechanicaly hits been great since I got her at 99,500 miles. The only things I’ve had to replace are mostly suspension parts due to Louisiana’s horrible roads.

I honestly wouldnt touch a 05-11 tacoma anymore. Between rust, headgaskest, timing chains etc. I'd rather have a 12-15 any day of the week.

They still rust after 12 but its much less frequent and the issues are fewer.

If the 06 was built after December of 05 it has the upgraded head gasket and there are no issues. All of the 2005 models are indeed affected with this.

This is interesting stuff. First I've ever heard about it. Doesn't mean anything, just pointing out how ignorant I am of vehicles I don't own :D
