Do people give you crap about driving a Toyota truck?

No not at you. Just piping off...lol. I have worked with some very strong opinionated individuals. All good.

 

I live in the Midwest.. so naturally there is a bias. I couldn't care less

 

Someone gave me crap for my truck today, but they drive like a late 90's 5 series BMW. The V8 argument doesn't really work like that

 

Only once did I get a lil prejudice against my Tacoma, but guess what, they all were driving beat to hell, barely running Ford Ranger, and a crappy noisy F-150. I mean the conversation was about having to fix that on the Ranger, then fix this on the F-150. They both turned their attention to my truck, they started to talking crap about the small engine and how clean my truck was compared to theirs. I just said, Toyotas 1GR-FE is proven reliable and dependable. And I said, my truck was only 2yrs old, I'm not gonna beat it up to look like their Fords. No joke. True Story. I felt as though I was in 5th grade having to defend my toys. Lol
But now I don't bother, they be jelly af.

 

I don't get much. I convinced my business partner to trade in his explorer for a 4runner. He wished he'd done it sooner. Plus some of my friends and good customers drive yotas.

I put "TOY" in big blue letters on a buddies T100 tailgate once. That was 10 years ago and he still has the truck.

I think its similar to when greek generals would give their horse to the general that defeated them. Lets just hope they weren't in school that day when they went over troy.

 

He started having problems with it. Then traded it in for a Silverado.

 

I've embarrassed too many people with a Toyota for anyone to give me shit. Not just on where I can make them go but what I can make them do.

 

It's an old post but definitely an interesting topic. Lol. In my opinion drive what you like. I think people sometimes take shit too serious. It's similar with the Harley crowd also. I have a victory motorcycle and feel like the Harley guys look down on anything that's not Harley Davidson. It's stupid.

In the Midwest people have that it's a yuppie truck, and or a ricer.
I tell them hey my truck was built in Mexico just like yours. I know cali, Mexico , same thing.

 

I try to buy American when I can. I just laugh and punch them in the trachea.

 

Yes.....then I open a spreadsheet and explain to them what residual value and depreciation means.

The ones that do are A-holes I have to work with who drive rusted out GM or Dodge crap . I just tell them that it will hold its value longer than any other truck . And also last a lot longer .

 

there's a word for those guys. "jealous"

 

All of my co-workers that don't like Toyota call me a jap lover, even though the Tacoma is probably more American than their Chevy's.

 

I swear, to some folks, its not a Truck, its a PENIS EXTENSION DEVICE!

 

I just say, built in San Antonio! How much of your chevy or ford or dodge is built in the US??
I then proceed to tell them how many miles are on my old T-100 and explain what a piece of shit my first brand new truck was, it was an F-150.
If that doesn't work, I tell them to kiss my a$$.

 

heh, yeah, my 2001 E150 (same drive train as a f150) ate 3 transmissions in 25000 miles of light duty. WTF?? my friend has a GMC Yukon XL (Suburban) and on his 3rd transmission in not very many miles. WTF? I'm used to my 80s/90s euro wagons maybe needing a minor rebuild in 250k miles of aggressive driving if you aren't religious about transmission fluid changes.
