DAMB STRAIGHT!!! Toyotas are made in the USA (remember that slogan?) Buy a Toyota and an American works...Buy a ford, chevy, or dodge and but a foreiner to work; afterall there NOT made in the USA! Same idiot who give you shit about a Toyota, goes out of his way to save a buck buing garbage made in china....I swear they are trying to kill us...litterally! (lead toys, now cadium toys...you know the stuff in batteries)

I'm not dumping on other countries or nationalities, or forigniers (except for china), but lets face it folks, our economy is in the shitter. And the only way we are going to get out of it is if people are working! Anyother attempt to improve the economy is just a band-aid on a severd limb. If people don't have money, an income, they can not buy anything, including a house/morgage. It is a downward spiralling event.

I am so fucking tired of hearing ignorantpeople say " well when you buy a forigne (Toyota) car, you make the Japanise rich"

My responce now is " I would rather make a few Japanise exeutives rich and have several hundred thousand U.S. people working, then make a few American executives rich and have several hundred thousand U.S. workers out of a job!"

When people give you shit, tell them this little bit of info....
The "big 3" auto companies moved plants outside the U.S. to save money,...but not in the way you are led to believe!!! Yes, labor it cheeper, but the shipping costs equal, if not exceed it. So how are they saving money??? IT'S A TAX SHELTER!!!

    Rap your mind around this...

1st) each plant is it's own company, with it's own tax ID number, and yes this is how it is reconized buy the IRS and Govt.

2nd) ford or gm makes a "bolt" in "Plant A in the USA" that costs one dollar then sells it to themselves in "Plant B in the USA" for one dollar. Tax-wise it's a wash, but they must do it to show how money moves form one plant to another. Same "company", BUT not to the IRS and Govt., remember different tax ID numbers!

3rd) now but "plant A" in Mexico. Lets say that "bolt" costs $0.50 even with shipping back to the U.S. But instead of "Plant B" in the USA buying it for 1 dollar,, they buy it for (lets just say) $20.00 This is legal buy the way, if you don't believe me, call a tax attourny, the phone book is filled with them! Anyways, "plant B" here in the US is in the hole, they are showing a lose and big time! All the profits are now in another country, sheltered from US Tax, and are ALSO TAX FREE in those countries because of N.A.F.T.A. The company just made a shit load of money tax free, which is where they are makeing/saving big money buy having plants outside the US!

Now the kick in the balls is this...the company then goes to the union and cryes the blues saying they are losing money and can not give raises, or they need to down size to save costs...and the union reps are stupid (yes I said it!) and fall for this crap and don't bother to call them on the carpet about it and also tell their union members about how all this works (which they should!). And the whole time executives like the CEO of gm was making 16,000,000.00 a year salery (16 million) as reported buy CNBC's report "Inside GM". and that does not include the bonuses he was makeing which standard bonus rated apply...100% your yearly salery...which would make it 32 million a year. But yet they are losing money and needed to get bail out money???

Even President Obama pointed this out last year (Jan/Feb 2009) stating that this is exactly what the auto makers are doing, and the Tax shelter need to be ended, giving them insentive to move jobs back to the US. Their insentive...no large shipping charges that need to be offset buy tax shelters that no longer exist.

Sorry for making this so long, but like I said, ignorant people that want to give me shit about how I spend MY money that I earned, and stand there and preach to me how I'm hurting the economy, when infact they don't have any idea what they are talking about, just pisses me off. And I felt it neccary to tell you all this because your worrying about getting shit for owning a Toyota; now you can defend your self and educate them at the same time.

If they are still being an ass about it..tell them this...."when you start making MY money FOR ME, then you can tell me how to spend it; until then, you have nothing to say!!!"

Let them give you shit.....look at the long post I have abouve this one. There is some info in there that I know they are not aware of, just because they give you shit.

And let them have their fun now....after this whole "witch hunt" against Toyota is over, what do you think is going to happen??? Toyota (and Honda too, they learned from this) a company that is deeply imbeded in pride, will NEVER, let this happen again! They will go way beyond what they need to to to make sure there is never a problem with anything again. Toyotas will be bullet proof, way more then they are now! All this witch hunt did was force a company to make an even better and more reliable vehicale. Where do you think that will leave ford gm and dodge??? By inflaming the situation, and they most sertainly had their hand in it, they screwed them selves! And these "smart/ and well educated busnessmen" are too stupid to see what they just did!! LOL LOL

Dude, don't take this wrong. But he surely has very little respect for YOU and does not like YOU. Why should he even care about what you drive?

Sounds like you driving a new truck is a way for him to vent out.

"Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer"

I would keep my eyes open for another job.

He is not your friend, just sayin...for what its worth.

We have a fleet of 60 Chevy Trucks, the director tells me all the time we should have gone Toyota but used DCLBs (Taco/Tundra) were hard to come by when we bought them. He drives a Taco too.

All I know is that alot of Americans got paychecks getting my Taco 'out of thin air' and into my driveway.

I just get crap from the recent recalls. Even though the Tacoma was not recalled for the sudden acceleration (floor mats is bull). They tell me that the only time I go wheeling is because the accelerator stuck. I thought it was funny! As far as other products not being American made, I went into a Burlington Coat Factory and checked about a dozen items on different racks in different parts of the store and not ONE was made in USA. All were made in Asia somewhere.

I get some crap from the guys at work from time to time. Mostly the usual "buy american" "buy a real mans truck".
I really just stand my ground or show them the top gear video of the indestructible tacoma.

The tacoma is the best midsize pickup around and for good reason.

I do agree however with most of the guys that the tundra is a respectable full size but does not compare to american full sizes. Full size trucks are an american tradition and ford, chevy, and dodge have been making them long before toyota or nissan ever had the balls to make one. Just how it is and will probably always be.

I did take a little shit from my Godfather when he asked me what I was buying to replace my busted up Jeep and I told him that I was buying a Tacoma. His response was "oh no, not another one - well maybe your truck will have a piece of the Arizona in it"

I just smile and let it all roll off.

If I were the person that started this post, I would go back to the boss and say "hey, thanks for the suggestion about parking out back, it's saving me a lot of scratches on my truck"

Everything is energy and it sounds as if your boss has a lot of negative energy. If you respond negatively, it only will make it worse. Try it sometime - just do something totally polar opposite of the reaction that they want to elicit out of you and they will be sort of dumbfounded by it. Works great with women too!

    Looking!
I considered Colorado briefly before buying our Tacoma, and was not impressed. I am definitely a Chevrolet enthusiast, and have been for over 40 years, but do not feel the quality or durability is there in the Colorado.

On the original topic, there is no problem at work with getting grief from co-workers or my boss, because my wife "adopted" our Tacoma immediately after it was delivered :D. My co-workers actually did say the pictures I showed them look good.

When people give me crap about my yota, I say first its not going to kill me and that the claims against toyota still havent been verified. Secondly, I regale them with stories of the hilux's in Aghfanistan.
"We had one that someone rolled over an AP (antipersonnel) mine with. It blew the front left tire, all the glass in the vehicle, and shot the battery into orbit. All the guys walked away just fine with slight ringing in their ears."

There's no such thing as buying American with respect to vehicles. That said, why should anyone feel obligated to buy an inferior product?

Want to do something for American jobs? Don't shop at Wal Mart. Stay away from Costco. Buy local. That's the only way to be a responsible, 'American product' consumer.

The biggest problem with our economy, IMO, is that we're borrowing money hand-over-fist from China (which keeps us invested in their products) to bail out our 'American Companies' who are failing because of 30 million dollar a year CEO's with no leadership.

If the powers at be behind the desks at Ford & GM understood that making quality products keeps your company out of the shitter, things would be better off.

We can all go trade in our Taco's for Rangers and Colorados, and we'd still take them to Lowes and Home Depot to fill the bed up with toxic drywall made in China. Santa would still be bringing our children poisonous plastic toys made in China.

You show me a car 100% American made with the craftsmanship of Toyota or Honda and I might flip. Until that happens, any hillbilly who gives me crap should go have a cup of shut-the-fuck-up.

    2 cents.

I bought my truck three weeks ago and a good friend said "you're gonna have to answer to God for that" because I didn't buy a GMC, which happened to make some kind of weird clunking sound when I test drove it. Lol....ok. I drove my '95 Nissan 4x4 for 15 years and the only work I had to do on it in that time period was changed out the starter last year. Been wanting a Toyota since I bought my truck in '95 and thinkin this one will far out do the Nissan. Thinkin God will say "now wasn't that a good truck". Will there be four wheelin in heaven???

You got it all wrong. American cars/trucks do create create hundreds of thousands of jobs in America.... they may not be build in the US, but someone still has to be paid to KEEP THEM RUNNING.

I'm from Canada :canada: so I don't get alot of crap about driving a foreign truck, since technically all our vehicles are foreign, but I did get crap from this one guy last Christmas.... I parked behind him in a mutual friends driveway, and he thought it would be fun to joke about backing over me in his Jeep Liberty if I didn't get out of the driveway. I just told him that I hope he still likes the jeep this much in a few years when it's breaking down every other day.

And I swear that china is trying to kill us. No, seriously, lead paint, lead in the toys, then toys made with cadnium, now the whole drywall thing.

My girlfriend and I have been trying to find silverware (not real silver though) NOT made in china. (over a year now and no luck!) We're not taking the chance with it being made with lead or somthing else deadly!!!
