Do strangers compliment your stock (ish) truck?

TLDR - Do you get compliments on your stock(ish) taco? Do you find it awkward?

Speaking specifically to the members with stock or relatively stock tacos.

When I got my taco back in 2016, when it wasn't "common" to see many on the road, I had lots of guys talk to me about the truck. Fast forward 6 years later, I still get the random "nice truck" from strangers pretty frequently, recently got a "want to trade?" comment. Is this still common for all you other guys?

Full disclosure I am an introvert, so my first thought when someone says something to me is "fuck! this dude wants to have a conversation" but I'm still very polite if they have questions.

I consider my truck to be stock-ish. Softopper, oem running boards, 265/75 tires, bhlm, and diode dynamic fogs. Nothing crazy by any means.

I do too. One from a guy driving a range rover. But I have Blazing Blue Pearl so it's pretty obvious why.

Hahaha! I was one of those guys, until I bought my own Tacoma a couple of months ago. These trucks are just stunningly cool looking -- even in stock format.

Around here (Colorado specifically Denver metro area) too many similar looking Tacomas - stock, bro style, wannabe safari expedition or otherwise - to have that problem. If anything someone will inevitably say they drive one exactly like mine.

Just yesterday I saw 3 stock white TRD Off Roads within a 5 minute drive down Hampden Ave not counting mine and 3 of them (counting mine) had the faux heritage grill lol the thought of spending some coin to vinyl wrap my truck with an exotic color did cross my mind…

Then again I do like the fact that Tacomas, 4Runners and to a lesser extent Tundras are exploding out here year in year out with no end in sight. Anything that takes away from the former narrative that Subarus dominate choice around here haha

Back when my truck was stock, yeah. But that was also when the 3rd gens just came out. I still get compliments now but my truck is no longer stock.

On a fairly regular basis. All I’ve done to mine is steps, factory roof rack, bed rack,General ATX with white letters out and tinted windows. MGM DCSB w/manual. First vehicle I’ve ever bought that I’ve not regretted at some level.

My 07 is close to stock with 265/75/16 a/t's, canopy, etc until i had a Icon stage 8 suspension installed recently. With the condition of the truck (zero rust and not a scratch) and after finding out the mileage (32,950 now) i get a few compliments but mainly it's guys (and the dealership... lol) asking if i'm interested in selling.

I bought mine December 13 and have already been asked a couple of times if I am willing to sell it….at gas stations of all places. This market is crazy! Consider mine stock since the only aftermarket is the Tyger steps. The rest is offered by Toyota, including the 2” TRD lift.

no because i live in San Diego and for whatever reason here having a "overland" is a trendy thing. now granted since i started looking into getting a taco my eye starts to pay attention to them more then i did but i see them on the daily. so unless your truck is all tricked out no one blinks a eye here cause they are so common i guess. idk i have not got any comments on mine yet

    Oh look, another mod....

    No, that is VooDoo blue.

When my truck was stock, I got compliments. It was odd at first. I've owned a lot of nice cars before, but I rarely got compliments on them. Even in stock form, my truck got a bunch of compliments. I get even more after the upgrades I put on it.

Ah OK the famous Voodoo Blue. That other shade of blue is also nice looks like it was specific to 2016-2018 Tacomas.

Maybe it’s more that all the supposed ‘Super White’ Tacos aren’t metallic that’s my only regret - but on the plus side it’s a cinch to clean just rinse off…

I guess what it comes down to is me being awkward as hell with stranger compliments. Haha.

I had a guy driving an F150 walk up and ask me if I put that scoop on or if the truck came that way. I told him the Sport and Pro come with it. "Wow that looks cool. Nice truck!" I didn't have the heart to tell him it didn't do anything.

A few times yea and I initiate a 'nice-ride' convo if I pull into a parking lot spot directly across
another Tacoma parking opposite at the same time.

Once had a lady at Walmart give me and the truck the eye and she started complimenting me on the truck.

I get cat-calls from gals all the time ... practically have to beat-em-off with a stick at red-lights.. (LOL)
