Yes, happens surprisingly often to me. On mine when they see it was also a MT, they would give me usually a big "right on!"
I just traded in my Tacoma for a 2022 TRD Off-Road 4Runner last week, so I will see what happens with this one.

After I got out of the Army in 78 I didn't want ANYTHING green. Green Tacos look good though.

I was in Kentucky for work. I had the evenings off and one night I was out at lowes looking for a blackstone griddle. When I came out, I had someone taking photos of my truck. I thought its was strange, but kinda cool I guess. He said nice rig and off he went. The only thing I had done at the time was a bed rack and CVT RTT, rest was stock.

First: I sold my 2016 Impreza when buying my Tacoma. :anonymous:

Second: I was gonna say that here in CO you only get comments if your truck is stock (ish), you get compliments for being unique, which means stock here in Denver haha! I think it's because people like seeing nice examples of 90s Tacomas after all these years, of which there are many around here. Also because everyone and their mom thinks "they should have come this way from the factory" when talking about their blacked out taillight film and 4 inches of wheel "poke".

PSA: care less about the comment itself and more about who is giving the compliment haha!

My truck is a '19 stock Sport AC. Barc red. I get compliments once in awhile. Actually had a truck driver at work take pictures of it when I first got it.

I often get compliments on the color (Quicksand). I've had a few people stop by or walk up to my house and ask questions. One is a neighbor on an adjacent street, and we have become friends, another was a neighborhood kid who desperately wants his own Tacoma. The other day I was in a drive-thru, and the dude at the window couldn't stop hanging out and looking back at my truck. He needed something for surfing and skiing. I told him, "This is it my friend". I think he may have botched the order in front of me.
I did get a few "negative" ones at work, mostly in the form of, "Why did you go down to a mid size?" I previously had a full size Dodge. I got a few, "Did your wife make you get a smaller truck" ones. This is from a staff of almost all women.

Someone complimented my tailgate. They saw it lowering itself gracefully into position and they said "Fancy!"

No... in Maui county. Tacomas are like grains of coral sand on the beach.

Yes. Mine is VooDoo Blue, it's practically a shining beacon of attention grabbing truckness even in its stock form.

It's either a compliment or they were making sure you weren't going to run them over :D

Not any comments that I remember. But a lot of envious looks. Winks etc. Even when I am not in my truck.

I would say an offer to buy your truck is a compliment. I get those once in awhile. The other day I was in a restaurant and a guy came by my table and asked if I owned the black Tacoma. I said yes thinking here we go again with a wreck in the parking lot. He asked how much I wanted for it. I told him it's not for sale. He gave me a price in jest and I said a dealer offered me twice that with an airline ticket home. We laughed, fist bumped, and he walked away.

Around here they look like any other green DEEP state truck, except their not a ford or chevy. A green taco is less common then quicksand and their ain't many of them either.

Predator steps, TRD cat-back, lots of orange stickers.
Tons, especially after a wash. Orange truck, mild suspension upgrade/lift with taller AT tires, tint, plasti-derp chrome.

    It's not polite to stare!

Besides it's probably the... It's the pleats. It's actually an optical illusion, it's the pattern on the pants. It's not flattering in the crotchal region.

    --------

I have noticed people stopping to take a longer look, or pointing it out to their friends (while I'm not in it.) Of course I have no idea what they're saying or thinking but I like to assume it's something flattering to reinforce my decision to overspend and keep making silly changes.
